Authentic teabag rally or Brooks Brothers riot?
Edited on Sat Mar-20-10 04:28 PM by CoffeeCat
Please don't accuse me of suggesting that the tea baggers are all sane, cordial individuals. I'm not
saying that. We know that some of them are haters and bigoted idiots.

However, the latest news that they're yelling "fa**ot" at Barney Frank and "n***er" at another Democratic
politicians sounds even over the top for the misguided and often idiotic teabaggers--who know that these
awful remarks would make headlines and give them major PR problems.

A new, very-public level of bigotry seems unlikely--especially when their main goal is to stop this healthcare
bill from passing. Yes, we usually see their their moronic, misspelled signs that never have the facts
straight--but using the "n"-word and yelling "fa**ot" seems a bit too low and a bit too orchestrated.

I feel like we're being played. I feel like some of this is staged in order to position anyone who dares
to doubt this bill--as a rabid, bigoted kook.

Yes, I KNOW--some of the teabaggers are bigoted. Most of them need to be deprogrammed. Their ideologies stink.

Please remember what one of Bush's senior advisers said to Ron Suskind, reporter for the New York Times, "...and when we act, we
create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality — judiciously, as you will — we'll act again, creating other new realities,
which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just
study what we do.'"

The health-insurance industry camped out on Capitol Hill for months before the healthcare debate even began. They lobbied our
politicians hard; and the President had private meetings with big Pharma and those health-insurance lobbyists--weeks before
the legislation was written. The health-insurance industry is driving this process. Not, the citizens of this country who
want real reform.

I am skeptical of this bill. It feels like a non-reform mandate to me that doesn't even include a public option. Is this an
attempt to position all people who question this bill--as rabid, bigoted fools? I'm not a rabid, bigoted fool.

I'm just not buying this latest piece of dramatic theater. It has the same stink as the "Brooks Brothers riot" written all over it.

3. The tea-baggers have been getting bolder.
I don't doubt for a minute they are legitimate, beck loving crazies.

5. I am buying it. I looks like a "stabbed in the back" scenario to me
They thought they had HCR killed when the won that 41st seat in The Senate. Now that they are coming to the realization that they lost they are freaking out.

Their small minds can't grasp what has happened so they latch onto the lies from FOX and the FOXpublicians who cry foul at every turn.

I saw one lone protester with a sign on Thursday, out marching up and down a main street trying to kill HCR all by herself. I am pretty sure she would yell obscene language similar to what has been reported if only she were given the chance.

I think the "Brooks Brothers" types know they have lost and are just out trying to get people to donate to their PACs before the vote.

14. I agree with you on many points...
You make a good point--these troglodytes have been steadily growing in their frustration and rage. They
are, as you said, probably freaking out. So, I do think it's possible that all of these bigoted remarks
were made by these howling fools.

However, I just can't get past the fact that their rage is so contrived and so manufactured. They sit
inside, listening to Fox News all day and hanging on Glenn Beck's every ridiculous word. So, they're
all messed up, full of fear and convinced that the world will end if healthcare is passed. I remember
listening to Beck and the other right-wing radio hosts--when the healthcare town halls were going on.

Those radio hosts were demanding that their listeners attend those town-halls and kick some ass. They
were given the talking points--about 'socialized medicine' and 'government takeover' and they all
went to those meetings and made fools of themselves.

All of this feels so orchestrated. We all know the corporations have all of the power. It's as if
they're creating this pseudo-debate--complete with antagonists and protagonists, in order to keep
us busy, distracted and too angry to notice that it's the corporations (together with our elected
politicians) who are robbing us blind and destroying our democracy.

So--I will agree that maybe these tea baggers aren't plants or actors. However, I do think that they
have been created, in the same way that Pavlov creating salivating dogs. I think these people
have been angered and whipped into a froth to create a distracting debate.

7. I think its legit, but even if it wasn't I wouldn't care
The tea baggers have been rallying against the Democrats for months, and they get all this media attention even if only a few hundred show up at a rally. They are nothing but retired older mostly white people with nothing better to do than show up at rallies and pretend they are a serious nation wide uprising against the Democrats and they have been stooges for the republican party.

If the tea baggers get a bad reputation as racists and kooks and their popularity goes down so that they are no longer covered by the media to the ridiculous extent that they have been then I am all for it, whether it be a fake operation (highly doubtful) or if they are just finally showing their true colors.

9. Are you under the impression that such language is rare out of
them? This is not the first time Barney has been called by that name. Maybe the millionth. So it is just not hard for me to believe that they do this. At all. I bet if you read one day's worth of Barney's mail, you'd be amazed at what people say, not to mention what they draw.

...and they are being purposely whipped into a frenzy by Glenn Beck and the rest of the
right-wing blowhards---who coincidentally, all spew the same talking points. Their talking
points are coming from the neocon-corporatist cabal that runs this whole show.

All of this just seems sooooooo scripted. I'm almost bored with the shtick--like when my child
was two and she'd scream in the grocery-store aisle because she wanted candy in the checkout lane.
It all seems to orchestrated and designed to obtain a particular outcome.

I firmly believe that the two parties are pretty much irrelevant. The corporations are the only
game in town. They've got most of our politicians by the shirt collars. The corporations fund
our politicians' campaigns, and in turn--our politicians give them the legislation and relaxed
regulations they desire. That's our government. Both parties are corrupt beyond repair.

I think they keep this us-them thingee going--to give the appearance of robust debate within
a working democracy. It's all such a farce.

This damn bill was written by the health-insurance industry and big Pharma before the debate even began.
It was all decided long ago. Everything we've seen regarding this debate has been theater. They
have to appear as if they're trying and that government is slowly crafting legislation--and oh, how
painful and hard it is...just like making sausage!

I just can't buy this nonsense any longer.

It's possible that the slurs that were screamed were authentic. However, those people have been
whipped into a frenzy by the right-wing radio jockeys--who have created these monsters. That is
not an accident and all of that is by design.

The corporations and the politicians need us divided, fractured, distracted and focused on the
dramatic debate on the stage---so we won't notice the grand theft that is happening behind the curtain.

15. Why don't you come out and say what you are dancing around saying in your OP.
Are you trying to say that the overt bigoted douchebaggery is some kind of false flag operation against the righties? Bullshit. Provide some proof. They have been exactly this bigoted the whole time, and more and more overt ever since the Palin nomination.

By the way, the righties LOVE to claim "false flag" every time one of their numbers does or says something outrageous.
