Today's House Rules Committee meeting was thrilling, and I hope people watched it.

I'm so exhausted trying to persuade cynics that Democrats are trying to pass health care reform because it is the right thing to do, that I can only plead with everyone here who doubts it to watch not only this hearing, but the Rules Committee hearing last Autumn, the entire Senate Finance Committee mark ups, and so on and so forth.

I am SO PROUD TO BE A DEMOCRAT tonight. We have fought for this health care bill because it makes things better for Americans. No, it is not perfect. It is not what I would have wished for. But it is a hell of a lot better than what we have.

And as a postscript, I think every House Rules Committee Hearing should be televised.
