A Hollow Victory, but a victory none the less |
|
I think this watered down, shell of a health care reform bill will pass today. Will it be what most of us want, NO. Will it drive the right wing lunatics mad, YES.
I woke up early this morning and turned on c-span. What a bunch of crazy lunatics calling in and exposing themselves for the dumb ass, bigoted, hate filled, self absorbed morons they are.
Do I like this bill, HELL NO, but I'm gonna love it when it passes and these idiots lose their damn minds.

Passing this bill as weak as it is is the clearest proof that elections have consequences. The ReTHUGS played as nasty as possible for over a year and will be losing today. That is very important.

just lay down and let the right wing continue to propagandize the rest of the free world, and we should gather here on this message board to comiserate about how bad we all have it because of the big bad right wing machine.
I'm not down with that. I look at this shitty bill as a door that's been slammed shut for decades, but we kicked it in door just enough to get our foot in the door. Progress, in my opinion, however weak and slow in coming, it's coming. I'll take it.

8. i find it amazing that the right wing hates the bill. |
|
it makes a ton of money for insurance corporations and doesn't solve the problem.
it is not reform. whether it's a step towards reform is debatable. i suppose it's better to look at it as a step towards reform. but is it the best they could have done with the votes they have? no.

I see this as much worse than just 'hollow'. I see this as destructive and regressive.
BTW: My mom was a junkie that used to sell my shit for drug money. I've been on my own since my teens and my 'parents' don't do shit for me. Most people with lives like mine are either long dead (like a large number of my friends - I'm 39, so they didn't die of old age) or in prison. I *barely* managed to avoid all that. You don't know me. You don't shit about me. Take your preconceived notions and STFU.

It just wouldn't enrich insurance racketeers with captive customers, endless corporate subsidies, and SYMBIOSIS with the government. Now the government is their strong right arm. That's what we've done to America.

14. If it passes and gets signed into law, how many of the "activist" opposition will evaporate? |
|
I saw about 80% of it, since I'm betting that's how many of the ones we see on TV and in print are paid shills who have no other gainful employment at the moment, and have no more personal stake in the issue than Robin Williams had in the fate of Adrian Cronauer.

I hope michelle bachman and her ilk choke on the historic vote that will go down in history today.

I was referring to the "activists" who show up when they're paid to do so, and who don't when they're not, such as the ones Faux portrays on their "news" programs.

25. I'm turning off March Madness basketball to watch the entire vote... |
|
I literally can't wait to watch CSpan today to see how each person votes for or against health care reform. This is bigger than the Super Bowl, Stanley Cup and the Final Four combined because it will mean (hopefully) a start to meaningful reform. I know this bill isn't perfect. I wish Obama and the democrats would have completely ignored republicans and crafted a bill that included a public option or a single payer system. But at least with this bill passed it will lead to further improvements over time. We have to start somewhere. This bill is just the first step to the average Americans taking their country back and furthering the cause of social justice.
Health Care Reform 216 - March Madness 0 (until the final vote and then it's back to basketball!)

the point we are on this historic day.
Be grateful for the small "excremental" steps that has brought us to this point.
I think this country might possibbly be on it's way to the potential greatness the founding fathers had in mind.
I'm thinking one or two more decades.

It's still gonna be an historic day in dem history when this watered down, bullshit bill hopefully passes in a few short hours.
It's not even about health care at this point. It's about the right wing crippling this president and our party, and then going in for the kill in november.
Don't you get it?
