Why can't we just take it as a given that the vast majority here
just want what's best for our fellow human beings? Those for the healthcare legislation aren't corporate stooges. Those against it aren't on the side of the republicans. And that's just the healthcare legislation.

2. Well said.
The disagreement here is over the best way to reach our mostly shared goals.

15. same argument could be made about
a lot of things - like education. It doesn't make me a "republican" because I disagree with those who only want traditional public schools, nor does it make me "anti-union".

Just because I support more choice in educational options (no, not vouchers...) doesn't mean I hate all teachers. Who do they think works in those alternative schools, anyway?

3. Yes, those here for the healthcare legislation aren't (necessarily) DLCers, either.

16. oh dammit!
Now you've got me craving asparagus. There's a Nepalese restaurant that has a great dish - only available when asparagus is fresh and in-season. I waited all year for it to come back around. Had some last week - now I want some more! yummmmm.

14. Hell, even people not in the USA
Want you to get a start on some kind of reform of your healthcare system.

My first vote at age 18 went to the Prime Minister who actually gave us a universal health care system. Nearly 40 years and numerous governments later - WE STILL HAVE IT. Once legislated, it would be political suicide to rescind any kind of health care benefit.

So, if the bill is not perfect, or universal, it's still a start and it will be bloody hard to take the gains away.
