Mob Rule? Barney Frank on the Republicans cheering when a protestor got rowdy

Rep. Barney Frank (D-MA) just told our Brian Beutler that a short time ago, a protestor watching the House proceedings from the gallery got rowdy, yelling "Kill the Bill." He resisted four Capitol Hill police officers trying to remove him from the gallery and as this was happening he was cheered loudly by dozens of House Republicans.

"I've never seen members of the House cheering on a guy resisting being kicked out of the gallery," said Frank. "It's a dangerous situation and the Republicans are cheering him on."

Frank: Protesters Were Nicer Today, But Situation Still Out Of Hand

Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) emerged from the House floor irate to denounce Republicans for cheering on the protester, saying that dozens were encouraging lawbreaking and making the situation dangerous for the unarmed ushers who have to wrestle out protesters in a tight space. He yelled at Roy Blunt on the House floor, telling him to get his colleagues in order. "That's why you get this kind of virulence and hatred," he said.

Barney Frank: 'Mass hysteria' on Capitol Hill

Tea Party protesters disrupted Speaker Nancy Pelosi's press stakeout at a House Office Building, yelling "you're a disgrace to your office" and one protester yelled a gay epithet at Rep. Barney Frank again on Sunday, adding yet another layer of chaos to an already tense afternoon on Capitol Hill.

(snip)
Someone in the crowd yelled "faggot" — an epithet overheard by a POLITICO reporter — at Frank, who is gay. A group of Catholics supporting reform sang a chorus of "we love you Barney, oh yes we do."

"It's like the Salem witch trials, and healthcare is the witches," Frank said. "There is mass hysteria."

1. I really do believe that the majority (maybe only a slight majority) of the U.S.
does not approve of this thuggish behavior and will turn away from the current crop of Repukes as a result.

8. Too bad our election results won't reflect that disgust.
The republicans own all 4 voting machine companies, and they control the programming.

5. These assholes are out of control.

The Reps should be identified and censured as a consequence of their actions.
It's just as bad as one of their party yelling out "you lie" at a SOTU.

7. it's more than this bill that is fueling this open hatred....
and that fact alone should be reason for every Democrat to vote in favor of it imo.

I'm not surprised it's come to this.

It's more important than ever for us to hang together!
