Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi carries the gavel used when Medicare passed - pics

WASHINGTON - MARCH 21: Speaker of the House Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) (C) carries the gavel that was used when Medicare was passed while marching with Rep. John Lewis (D-GA), Majority Leader Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-MD) (L), Rep. John Larson (D-CT), Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) and other members of the Democratic Caucus from the Cannon House Office Building to the U.S. Captiol for the health care reform vote March 21, 2010 in Washington, DC. House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) said he was confident that the Democrats have the necessary 216 votes to pass landmark health care reform legislation Sunday.

When all the effects of this bill kick in, there are going to be a lot of very pissed off people, and the anger will be refreshed each month when the insurance bill arrives. They've rescued one of the most despised industries from itself once again, and once again on the backs of regular people. Democrats are going to be paying for this sell-out at the polls for a very, very long time.

Not to mention, I feel less nervous seeing that bottom photo. Nancy Pelosi looks so happy. This has to be an incredible moment for her. She really has done an amazing job if she gets this through. To be the Speaker who got this passed - in addition to being the first woman Speaker of the House is incredible.

No one has mentioned this, but it is a real milestone for women, that the person who has led the House to win (pray) this victory, Nancy Peolsi will be seen not just as the first woman Speaker, but as one of the great Speakers.
