Any info on Torrington, CT??
What's the town like?
Crime rate?
Cost of Living?
Liberal? or Conservative?
LGBT Friendly?
Lots of stuff to do, or nothing much to do?
Teen-friendly?
Did you live there, know someone who did/does?, visit there?
Would you want to live there? Why or why not?

Hmmmmmmm - well, anything else you can think of about the place?

1. Yes, my sister lives right next door, so to speak, in Litchfield
I've passed through there but am not really sure about your questions..I'll send them onto her and send her answers back to you.

3. Have family from there
they're all completely nuts. Generally they complain about the cost of living (from the rents I've seen they have a right to)

Not sure if that helps any.

10. well, I would lean towards the bad kind.
I don't get into politics with them. I have a distant enough relationship with family there, I don't need to put yet another wedge between us.

15. yup.
I can't wait for the first trip of the season. Thinking the Honda Element and I need some sun and sand after all the snow it had to drive through this winter.

Usually camp out at Oregon Inlet and hit the 27 MP for some nice undisturbed relaxation in the sun :)

Pretty town, though. Low crime.
Not too sure on some of your other questions. Been there a few times but only for a basketball game or a football game. Basically, just passing through. Don't think I even stopped at any other place in town except for the high school gym and football field.
I think the mayor is a repuke. Seems to be a somewhat conservative town.

7. Here ya go...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torrington,_Connecticut

One thing I have to add, though...

if you don't like violent summer storms, then you won't like living there. It's in Litchfield County, which, when we tune into the weather, even up here in Mass, we always hear it's the target for some REAL nasty summer thunder and lightning.

It's like the place is a storm magnet or something.

No clue as to why this is...

8. Actually, yeah, you're right.
There does seem to be a lot of violent summer storms in that area. And, yea, I don't know why either.

9. we used to live in NC - which is the 2nd most prevalent
state for LIGHTENING. Florida is the first.

thanks for the link. I'm assuming it's pretty accurate if you lived there and posted it.

I'm really looking for some "personality" about the town, ya know? Is it a GOOD place to live?

14. They get horrible lighting/wind storms during the warm months.
Also, it tend to be "hickish" up there.
