The politics with the passing of this bill... |
|
The Repubs are going to go home and tell all their supporters that they plan on repealing this bill as soon as they get in power.
Of course, by November, people will have more time to study their personal situations in relation to the new healthcare bill. They will actually find very little to criticize. It just isn't there. They may even find one or two parts that they like?
If so, then the Repubs may find that this is a vote that might backfire on them. It will not be the potent issue they think it will be. In fact, it may take away much of the attention from the "jobs" issue? If so, it could work to the Democrats political advantage.
That is, if they are only looking for political advantage.

There is a reason why they aren't
(and 5/4 and 9-11 are why it took so long for them to fall).

One big problem is that we'll have to wait 4 years for the |
|
bill to become effective.

Because the Repubs put us so far in debt in their last eight years, that we do not have the luxury of paying for it all at once. We have to give Bush's disastrous economy time to improve before it can be totally implimented. But, you knew that?

4. Once it is law, the GOP will find it hard to tell us "old folks" --we |
|
are going to take away the "fixed donut hole", tell young people--we are going to rescind your ability to stay on your parents insurance until age 26, tell parents --we are going to remove the ban protecting your child with asthma from being denied coverage.
Repeal and Replace sounds good now. After tonight, it becomes much more difficult.
It is imperative that a broad effort to inform the public on those pieces of the law that are effective immediately and any taking place prior to the election. Over and Over.
