5. thanks..this issue is wayyyy more important than the watered down HC giveaway
and deserves more coverage as we continue Bush's WAR policies.

7. It's so hard to believe....
The occupations....No end in sight.
You're right...just continue bush's policies and no one will notice...
Death and destruction daily....never-ending agony...and so we carry on.

peace~

8. Yes!
The organizers did a fantastic job....
And the people came out!
But no one is supposed to know.

The Keene activists are golden. It was an honor to stand with them.

No...:spray:
C-span didn't get a press release...to my knowledge...

They could have interviewed Kevin, on the right. He spent two years in a federal penitentiary for refusing induction during the Vietnam war....

I'll just keep posting pictures for the Keene Sentinel.....:D

15. I'm sorry you got no coverage, but ~25 people isn't exactly a big deal
I guess Keene is a pretty small town, and it's good that people are meeting in public to express their views and raising awareness. But even for a college town, this demonstration looks pretty tiny.

18. It's not about the coverage for me...
It's about the organizers and the people who put there hearts and souls into the demonstration. Another anniversary of the Iraq occupation, and the never-ending occupation of Afghanistan. They had intense speakers....It was surreal listening to those who spent time in Iraq...IVAW. The speaker from Antiwar.com...the WWII veteran in his 90s...Vietnam veterans...

I was just an invited guest....The organizers were beyond disgust that their paper shunned the demonstration. The peace movement is still alive and well....Well, barely. They stood in solidarity with the protesters at DC. Local papers used to cover the anniversary demonstrations...there used to be many across the country....Now, not so much. Probably about 50+ people showed up, not counting the organizers/speakers/musicians.

Everyone is wrapped up in what's going on here...not there. It seems like the illegal occupations are forgotten as there is much pain and suffering here. Nothing compared to what the civilians of the US occupations must endure....Hell on earth...death, destruction, agony continues....

Apathy. The media, and most Americans. I just happen to enjoy taking pictures...something I didn't have the luxury of doing when I used to be an organizer....Burn out for me...It was good to be back.

For me, it's not about the numbers...it's about those who still hold their moral obligations to keep on.
And so they did....and will continue to do so.
Tiny...perhaps. But newsworthy for a small town....It certainly was the main news item of the day.

peace~

25. I bet they would have covered it
Edited on Mon Mar-29-10 06:29 AM by hippywife
had it been a group of mean, ugly teabaggers spouting hatred and racial slurs and spitting on people. But then that wouldn't have been news, would it? Just another day in America.

I'm glad to know that people of peace still gather for what is right.

28. You've got it right...and we here know it.
The hatred of the teabaggers is top priority.
We can be certain that even a tiny gathering would have had reporters running amok to get a story.
Anything ugly is worth reporting...the sensationalism.... the media feeds it...makes it larger than life itself.

Life.
Millions driven from their homes. Children dead...dying...maimed....
Entire countries destroyed by the US in the name of democracy.
Soldiers forced to fight for a lie.....dying.
Coming home with broken bodies and spirits.....

This is not what the people want to hear or know. Hide the truth...bury it with the dead.
Wave the flag and carry a gun in public.....this is the news along with all the Hollywood gossip.

Bring on the teabaggers!
This is America?
This is America!

Can't wait until the Keene Sentinel 'reports' a local teabagger rally...coming soon, I'm sure.
As the people of peace in NH keep on...

peace~

In behalf of those who put their hearts and souls into reminding the people of the forgotten occupations...this forgotten anniversary...
I thank you...

There were many across the country who remembered.
And many who chose to close their eyes.

I'm thankful that I was there to capture the spirit of those beautiful people....

And my heartfelt thanks to you....
