35. Yes he is some kinda wonderful to Ms.goclark |
|
:loveya:
I attended a Rally at USC before he decided to run for President.
The lawn in front of the library was completely packed.
I was standing about 1/4 of a football field away from him and it was some kinda wonderful!
When he walked out on the steps the crowd that was calm went WILD! I mean WILD! Young ladies started screaming like it was Elvis Presley!
Ms. goclark was screaming like I was still a student there -- I could not help myself.LOL
He is just so handsome and so confident yet so low key and sensible when he speaks --it was magical.

Since the advent of DSLR, photographers are not limited to a roll of 36 or 100 (with extra magazine) and now can take literally thousands of photos.

why mention her gender? is she "the little woman cop"? you didn't mention her race. she's the only cop in the frame.
how about "officer' or "cop"? it's very simply and not hard to do.

"you're giving me all sort of nonsensical grief?"
Not at all. Even gave you a thumbsup. Your attitude indicates you don't WANT to respect the officer as an officer -- gotta diminish her cuz she's female.
Look at the other comment/s here about her "fantasizing about being Michelle for a night." Sexism is bigotry like any other.

34. Some of us lived through a time when "lady" or "woman" before a profession implied that it was |
|
unusual, remarkable, or even wrong that a woman could do or would want to do that particular job. It was seen as diminishing the job title and implied that there was a possibility the job wouldn't get done as well. Because of that, the terminology jumps out at us, and we object to it.

36. I see.... but I meant to be instead respectful |
|
I hate the term female, which I always think should be given to animals only, maybe because I'm French and "femelle" is always put before an animal.
The opposite happened when I called an AA woman a lady "of color" which got her eyes to pop out as if I had used the "N" word.
In French, "gens de couleurs" is actually a nice P.C. term to designate non-Caucasians.

39. No you meant to comment on her gender rather than her profession |
|
Edited on Tue Mar-23-10 02:24 AM by omega minimo
Why specify it at all? As the poster explained, as i explained, it diminishes her as an officer, a professional, minimizes her presence.
Several on your thread seem fixated with projecting sexual innuendo on the scene, so maybe that's all some people can see.

The alternative would be not to give "cop" any modifier whatsoever, unless it has a bearing on the point you're making. I don't think it did have a bearing on what you were saying here. Thanks for listening.
