just to break away from the House for a moment: Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution on ABC |
|
Really quite interesting. He's in Huntington WV, which is the fattest, unhealthiest city in the country trying to change the way people eat. The resistance and suspicion with which he's met, is pretty remarkable. And the food they serve kids in the schools- if it can be called food- is appalling.

4. he did the same thing in the UK |

would be nice if they showed some of his work in the UK on the US show...sounds another 'lets translate this show for the yanks' thing though.

5. I'm not likely going to watch this show - I think the premise is condescending |

"Oh, right, Some Brit is here, come across the water to tell me, an Obese and Unhealthy American, how to eat better because OBVIOUSLY my own countrymen can't and won't do it."
(Obviously that's not true, and I have 10 years of PBS and Food Network programming as evidence to the contrary, including a series by Emeril Legasse or however his name is spelled. Furthermore I am neither obese nor unhealthy. But this is still the premise.)
I've eaten in England. I drank the water. It's crap and I'm happy to be home.
