For better or worse, I am convinced that NO HCR bill would have passed if we waited |
|
until the November election
Perhaps because we have a HCR base, no matter how good or bad, it can be amended
There would have never been that opportunity if it was dropped

the dems would have had to explain why they couldn't pass it lus it would have continued to hold up everything else.

2. This was the one shot. It was not going to just come around again because we wished it to. |
|
The fatigue over the topic on top of all of the pushback and politics conspired to doom any progress absent passage of this bill.
I'm very relieved, to say the least, that it passed tonight.

10. Tell me if the HCR bill didn't pass how that would mean more suffering? That assumption |
|
assumes that it is worse than what we have today
What we have today is discrimination against pre-existing conditions, and 40 million people uninsured
What the current bill sets up at the very least is that those issues will not be allowed

14. How does making a corporation.... |
|
more powerful, improve any thing. I don't care about the uninsured-I care about people who can't get affordable health care. Those are not the same thing. We can easly take care of that, but profit is more important?
And the decent provisions of the bill will be the ones 'fixed' down the road.
I know that your seeing this in a more positive light, but that doesn't exist for me.

13. Just addressing pre-existing conditions makes it worth it for a lot of people.. |
|
I'm not on the bandwagon...but there are positive steps in the bill.

5. I was pissed at the no-public-option at first.... |
|
But I'm taking a wider view now, and I think we are OK. Better a move in the right direction than inaction or a step backward. We need to stay on this and keep agitating for true universal care. We made a gain, but didn't get the big Kahuna yet. The neat thing is, we can.
This is a plus.

16. But it will never be amended except to make it worse |
|
That it needs fixes flat out guarantees that there will never be any.
