I don't get the obsession with fetuses by those who call themselves "pro life"
I just had the courage to sit through the repetitive ranting of anti-abortion buzzwords like "unborn" and "protect life" that appeal to those who believe it when their pastors say that life begins as conception. Roland Martin on CNN just nailed those foolish Congress members like many on Twitter did. I searched "unborn" on Twitter during the pro-life Representatives' empty debate and noticed that the majority of Twitterers wanted them to shut up.

So if those politicians really want to protect life, how about for the ~30 million uninsured LIVING Americans first?

I don't get it.

1. It is simple. Life begins at conception. It is a child until birth. Then it is a Welfare cheat.
They just need to know the buzz phrases to pacify the morons they call the "GOP Base". They don't actually want to eliminate (or even reduce) abortions. That's one of their key campaign rally issues.

2. I agree.
It's lugubrious. What if an "unborn child" doesn't want to be born? E.g., into an abusive situation, etc. See, I think these people believe they have the right to speak for the unborn, because, since the unborn can't speak for themselves, there's no one to argue with them! It gives them a little power surge.

It's like the damn Repubs (and others) who are always saying, "The American people want..." GOD It infuriates me!

3. pro-lifers are like a large bull with a ring through its nose
if you know how to grab the ring, you can lead it anywhere, even off a cliff.

when anyone is THAT fanatical about one issue, they can be told ANYTHING and believe it, if it loosely fits into their core vulnerability.

sorry that doesn't directly address what you're saying, but I felt it had to be said.

5. Repugs love the zygotes.
Do you notice that all the Repugs could talk about is money
and never about Americans who need health care. But, there is
one glaring exception: They love ZYGOTES. They defend them
to the max (although I think some of that is phony), but at
the same time screw mothers who need pre-natal health care but
once the infant is born and taking its first breath, they
dismiss her/him. They only like him/her when they are
invisible. They are the strangest people.

9. Not quite. They want to punish women for having sex with *someone else*.
I've noticed that when a pro-lifer knocks up his mistress/employee/female relative, abortion tends to become less objectionable.

7. It's not so black and white...
I know many liberals and progressives who are pro-choice but anti-abortion. I am one of those, and my reason is because I don't think we can ever be absolutely sure when "life" begins. Aborting a developing cellular structure may not be murder, but in my opinion a baby in the 8th or 9th month is pretty much alive and the pregnancy should only be "aborted" in the most extreme of situation (last minute threats to the mother's life). Hopefully, that late in the pregnancy the baby can be delivered early without a threat to the mother.

Really though, it's all one huge gray area. When does life begin? After you are born? Sometime between that period of conception and birth? Maybe even before you are even conceived? Who knows. That's why I'm pro-choice. But, that doesn't mean I believe abortion is a good thing. In some cases it's simply the lesser of two evils, one being the taking away of a woman's freedom to choose and the other potentially killing a baby that has consciousness at some level.

It's not so black and white, I think it is very much a gray area, and we should all be careful not to try to stereotype one side or the other otherwise we might drag people into the fight who otherwise share many of our ideals.

8. The only time they say: Jesus Christ
is when they trip on something...

They do not care about life. They cannot be pro-life and support the death penalty. they canot be pro-life and stand behind insurance companies that refuse to cover medical care that SAVES LIVES.

10. IT'S ALL ABOUT CONTROL
Since these morons hate liberals, and since the people who have abortions are mostly liberals, what the hell do they care if we have abortions? These right-wingers are ridiculous. Perhaps they want you to have as many children as possible so they can grow up to fight and die in the stupid wars that the Republicans start for no reason.

Pro-lifers are seriously bizarre people.
