Congratulations!
You've just managed to pass, without a single GOP vote, the Dole/Baker/Romneycare health insurance reform package of 1995. A package that was specifically designed to prevent universal health CARE.

You've just established that purchasing health insurance is an OBLIGATION of every citizen, but that the delivery of health CARE is an option for the medical INDUSTRY.

THAT was the HOPE and CHANGE that everyone worked so hard for, to obligate individuals to corporate America in hopes that they would willingly throw us a bone for health care after they had satisfied their obligation to their shareholders.

Heck, at least when Bush II pushed through prescription drug benefits, I didn't have to listen to how much it might cost, much less suffer through the equivalent of the democratic "golden asterisk".

Now at least we can move on to the historic legislation that will merely change the address of the gitmo detainees. I figure after that we can discuss the proper wording for winning the "hearts and minds" of that Afghan drug lords while we fund the Karzia corrupt government. Yeah, that's why Oprah cried in Grant Park.
