Tom Coburn (R., Okla.)
Mike Crapo (R., Idaho)
Reps. Dave Camp (R., Mich.)

The panel is likely to recommend some combination of tax increases, spending cuts and reductions in federal benefit programs including Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security and veterans benefits.

Former Clinton White House Chief of Staff Erskine Bowles and former Republican Sen. Alan Simpson are the commission's co-chairmen.

The panel is expected to issue a report by Dec. 1.
