in January, we lost Teddy's seat because the Democrats in congress had no spine

In March, we achieved Teddy's dream because Barack Obama surgically inserted a new one.

1. Actually..
I think most of the Obama voters who flipped or stayed home were unhappy that the Public Option had been removed from the bill and unhappy with the bank bailouts.

3. Exactly. And not only that, but
Martha Coakley was a terrible campaigner. She and the party took for granted that she would win, which was a fatal mistake.

8. That's what Dean's post election polling said.
Coakley started tanking when she said she'd vote for the Senate bill which did not include a PO. MA showed about 35% support for the mandate with support increasing to 82% if a public option was included.

2. If you think this is going to play out well for the dems
I think you're sorely mistaken.

4. Really, do you have to comment in EVERY feel good thread? We understand
and respect your feelings on this, but what do you think it accomplishes by jumping in and spreading doom? Can't you give it a rest? You can always come back and say "I told you so".

5. While you're all clicking the champagne glasses, we're careening towards a cliff
pardon me if I'm unable to share in the joy.

6. I'm not asking you to share in the joy. I'm just asking you to stop -- just for
a while -- feeling compelled to dump on our happiness. What do you want from us? I just don't understand why you feel it's your j.o.b. to tell us we're wrong. Again, what do you hope to accomplish?

7. Izion, I'm not into a buzz kill right now. Maybe you should turn
off your computer and turn on Faux news - just a suggestion.....

10. FAUX news sucks, so stuff your snark in a sock
just because I don't agree with you doesn't make me a troll.

9. Seriously, it's not like I like to show up at a party and pee in the punch bowl
I do feel very passionately about this, though, and feel compelled to object with equal fervor to the glee that people are feeling. It's extremely difficult for me to stand by idly while people celebrate something that I've so ardently opposed. It's not about 'teams' for me, it's about issues. And there are issues in this bill that are an dubious and malevolent as those in the unPATRIOTic Act, another piece of legislation that I've expended a great deal of time and energy objecting to, much of it on this board.

In the interest of good sportsmanship though, I'll refrain from commenting on some celebration threads. :)

12. I so understand how you feel, and when I'm on that side, I also feel compelled
to comment. But for those of us who were really hoping this would pass, for whatever reasons, this has been a huge relief and I for one don't have the energy to debate it any more. At least at this time.

So just let us revel or wallow :7 for a day or two. Thanks for not peeing in the punch bowl! :hi:

13. Man...
you are really angry this morning aren't you? Maybe you should post an official thread instead of pissing in everyone else's posts.

11. I predict most Democratic losses this year will be those who voted NO
We know Republicans will vote against them anyway, and now Democrats have no reason to vote for them.
