One silver lining at least. November is looking a lot less like a potential disaster
If the Repukes were smart, they'd completely cream us by waging an insistent but low-key campaign against mandates and benefits taxation, just like Obama did so successfully in 2008. After today's disgusting displays of out of control sociopatholgy, it's starting to look like they are incapable of that. Thank heavens for small favors--we're already getting enough crap to deal with from corporate Dems. We may not get anything really populist from Dems until we start primarying more of them (though we will continue to get small improvements here and there), but Repukes have the potential of absolutely destroying our society. And they'd do it just out of spite.

1. "they'd do it just out of spite"
I believe more and more Americans have become aware of that, and for this reason alone, the GOP will lose big time.

2. Dems prolly pick up 3 or 4 Senate seats and 8 to 11 House seats
The GOPiacs have self destroyed their odds for victory...all by themselves

12. Yes, but we are shit out of luck there
Unless we have a really massive jobs plan that will be visibly ameliorative.

4. Nice thought, but November and 2012 can still be a disaster.

Never underestimate the ignorance of the significant portion of the populace and the power of propaganda.

6. True dat
Again, everything depends on how much the Repukes are willing to ramp up the batshit crazy sociopath act.

5. We need to build on this success with financial and immigration reform, EFCA and DADT.
Keep the pressure on them rather than going into defensive mode between now and November!

7. For people who want health CARE, we have been resoundingly defeated
However, it will take people awhile to realize that little is going to change until 2014. If the financial regulation is as much of a sellout as HCR, we are in really serious trouble. Most of HCR actual consequences are postponed--this will NOT be the case with fake, weak financial regulation.

8. We'll see about financial reform. If a final bill gets unanimous support from the Progressive Caucus
and unanimous opposition from republicans (as was the case with this health care bill), I'll be inclined to support it. If it is something that passes with a lot of republican and blue dog support, while being rejected by the progressives in congress, then I would likely agree with you.

The best way for us to get health CARE from the government is through a British style National Health Service. If that's the health CARE you're referring to, I agree with you. Everything else is just insurance reform (who pays the private doctors and hospitals). With 178 republicans and 54 blue dogs in the House, I don't think my NHS had much of a chance - talk about socialism!

9. The predictions of Democratic defeat in the 2010 Midterms is a fabrication of the Main $tream Media
It is the M$M that is constantly saying we are going to be voted out of office in November. Wishful thinking by the press and the cable news channels does not make it so

10. You are forgetting that Obama won in 2008 campaigning against mandates and benefits taxes.
The Repubs could win with that, but they are undercutting themselves by acting like batshit crazy sociopaths. I'm betting that they will keep doing it, at least for a year or two.

This week's displays have fortunately indicated that they aren't smart.
