I'm in no rush for the mandates to be implemented, but four years is a long time in politics and the preservation of our majorities in 2010 is not certain. We are definitely going to lose seats and right now it's only a question of how many.

1. As I understand it over 30 state AG's are going to file suit against this.

11. And They'll Fail
This bill is similar to the one that set up Social Security and the Income Tax...and those have been ruled to be Constitutional. It's just political grandstanding by the rushpublicans in hopes they can milk this issue for money and maybe a few votes in the fall.

2. My thinking is looking down the road a repeal will be very difficult
People will be accustomed to what to expect and millions will be looking for the day when insurance becomes part of their lives. It would be a huge mistake for a take away.

3. I certainly never intend to get used to being forced to buy shitty pretend "coverage"
--that leaves me to pay 40% of my expenses.

5. it is a huge plus for insurance companies - they are huge donors to congress (R&D)
The insurance industry will NOT want to lose their huge new customer base, the repukes will whine and stamp their feet but ultimately will not do anything to anger their corporate masters (any more than the dems will)

6. Mandates
I guess if the Repugs campaign on a platform of repeal and win, then we will have to accept that there is a mandate for repeal, right?

7. No.
If they don't have enough votes to override the Pres., then tough shit.

9. Repeal will be virtually impossible.
There won't be 216 votes to repeal a ban on denying coverage for pre-existing conditions, nor will there be 216 votes for kicking children off their parent's insurance.

It won't happen. We can either stand pat with what we have, or work to make it better. I prefer the latter, but I am not at all concerned about repeal.

10. As long as Obama is prez, it can't be repealed. He'll veto it.
If he loses in 2012, the Repubs won't repeal it either. The public will have enjoyed key benefits for 4 years.

The Repubs won't dare repeal it.

12. Here's where the Citizens United case comes into play.
I don't know if it will be repealed -- but insurance, pharma, doctors,
etc will work very hard and donate tons of money
to the candidates who will 'Fix' the bill they way
those Special Interests want.

14. It won't be repealed
People are all ready dreaming about the things they can now buy. Co-worker is going out and buying a new LED TV at lunch because he will now have free health care by the end of the year and can scrape by until then.
