Jaw-dropping stupidity on live teevee
On CBS Early Show, Harry Smith is talking to a panel of morons, with Ceci Connolly as co-moderator.

A nurse was bemoaning the passage of The Bill. Her logic was that she wanted to preserve the quality of American healthcare. If "healthcare" passes, there will be too mnay people seeking medical care and the system will break down form overload.

I will assume that the stupidity of that is evident to everyone.

Secondarily, the panel was loaded to support an agenda. Ceci Connolly. 'Nuff said. But then the four panelists.

A young, good looking, but clearly angry white man who is a "small business owner" who dropped his insurance coverage because there were bills he had to pay out of pocket when his daughter was sick. The nurse, cited above. Another white guy, older, "small business owner" who sounded like Ron Paul without the nasally accent. And lastly, a larger black woman who lost her husband to lack of medical coverage and who now has high blood pressure herself and no access to health care.

5. Too many black people is more like it
That line up of panelists projects this - it's going to hurt the small white business owner, but benefit the african american woman

Same thing keeping the tea baggers stirred up - bunch of old white folks on Medicare, VA benefits, etc - "if the scary black guy in the White House starts giving free stuff to his friends (ie, welfare queens) then they may not be able to give me my stuff"

14. They made their agenda very clear on Saturday
when they spit on and called black reps the N word. And when they yelled at Barney Frank.

In fact that behavior on their part swung me solidly into the HCR bill camp. This morning I am glad the racists lost.

10. This is actually an unpleasant yet very real issue:
A nurse was bemoaning the passage of The Bill. Her logic was that she wanted to preserve the quality of American healthcare. If "healthcare" passes, there will be too mnay people seeking medical care and the system will break down form overload.

Unless you increase the capacity of the system AND/OR make different and more efficient choices with respect to courses of treatments it's not going to possible to maintain the current standard of care.

However you want to look at it- the conclusion is inescapable.

13. What, oh what, can we do? Help train doctors & nurses?
Increase the number of health care providers? Increase the number of people working?

Naaahh, we should just moan about too many people giving a shit about their health.

Or maybe we need that "Death Tsar" that we've heard so much about from our colleagues across the aisle.

:hi:

16. He couldn't even respond to the overly angry white guy who was angry small businesses would fire
employees to get below 50 people so they wouldn't have to provide healthcare.... Harry Smith is no journalist... And for the record, the young good looking white guy who dropped his insurance because he had to pay when his daughter got sick was for the bill's passage as well as the woman who lost her husband and who is now a Federal Government worker. The stupidity of the nurse was overwhelming.... this is bad because too many will have access to doctors and medical care... NICE...
