Question: Can you enter The Exchange if your employer offers junk insurance? |
|
The last I heard, many said you couldn't and pro-bill people were pointing to ambiguous clauses in the House Bill.
Has there been any clarification on this?

3. If it follows the Massachusetts plan, you have to accept your employer's plan. |
|
I know because my kid applied and got turned down. She'd have had to have had a child, been pregnant or had breast cancer. Now she has to accept company's crappy Aetna plan.

4. Not sure... but if you COULD, it would still be a problem |
|
Even "junk insurance" usually involves the employer paying a fairly large chunk of the total premium.
In this case it sould like you would be giving up that contribution in exchange for paying for the better plan yourself.

5. About those "qualified plans" the GOP was bitching about |
|
Your employer can't offer "junk insurance".
One of the things the GOPers were bitching about was that there is a floor on what can or cannot be called "health insurance" and qualify. They wanted the "market" to determine whether or not you get a big surprise when you get sick and no longer can do anything about it.

6. WalMart, for example, offers "junk insurance" and last I heard... |
|
it was grandfathered in. Also, there's something about actuarial value requirements being lowered from 80% to 60%.
I'm sure we'll all hear more about this in the coming weeks and months.
