HCR and SCOTUS : Longer-Term Implications
The recent ghastly SCOTUS ruling was monumentally bad for giving corporations unprecedented new power to influence elections, and to shape public discourse and thinking.

While certainly not of the same order of magnitude of ghastliness, the HCR bill also solidifies corporations' grip on American's lives. Because the bill does not offer the alternative of a robust Public Option, the bill effectively forces everyone to transact with a private corporation, as a basic citizenship requirement.

The HCR bill endowed corporations with new power and status.
