1. thanks- I've called my rep twice but he still hasn't signed on
Brad Sherman in CA. I need to make another call. This should be a no-brainer for him.

the HCR bill passed, was still not a solution.

3. He has 80 now? Great!
How many more does he need to get it out of committee and on the floor for debate? He'd better do it before the November elections, when the faces in Congress might change to more conservative ones.

12. I don't know the answer to that (how many to get it out of committee).
I'm hoping it gets done WAY before November because I really feel this will get a lot of support, and even if it isn't implemented by then, it will seem much more tangible than the items in the bill we just passed.

17. I've been trying to Google it and can't get any answers.
All I know is that Conyers/Kucinich's bill HR 676 couldn't be gotten out of committee and they had I believe 50 sponsors. So I was wondering how many sponsors it took to get Nancy Pelosi's attention to move it out on the floor?

18. Is that what determines whether or not something makes it out
of committee -- the number of sponsors? Like, if you get X number of sponsors, it automatically goes to the floor? (Kind of thinking out loud, you don't have to answer that :7)

19. I really don't know. I know it has to go through the Ways and Means
Committee to get to the floor. I don't think co-sponsorship has much to do with it if they really want something out there like the Patriot Act or war resolutions. However, it seems if a large number of Congress Reps. are co-sponsoring a bill it would be hard for Nancy and the committee to ignore the fact. So I was wondering if there was a precedent for this and how many co-sponsors it took to pressure the Ways and Means Committee to move it forward?

8. This is the list of co-sponsors of the bill (in case your rep hasn't
signed on yet). But your post reminds me that I think those of us who have signed the petition is numbering over 40,000!

I have high hopes for this!

11. I'm not sure how that works -- doesn't it have to pass the House
first? Never mind, don't answer that. It's all been explained to me a zillion times and I'm perpetually confused.

I THINK I read that Reid said there would be a PO something-or-other in the piece that is en route to the Senate to sign, but I could be wrong.

No help at all, am I? :7

14. Couldn't be a similar bill working it's way throught the Senate at pretty much the same time?
I think only tax bills have to originate in the House. But I could be totally wrong on both points.

16. If one of us is wrong, trust me, it's me. I haven't heard of such
a bill, but then we've heard of nothing but the Senate bill that was voted on yesterday.

I wonder what Reid was referring to?

I know -- I'll ask the smart DUers! :hi:

10. Don't see any CT reps there...
C'mon Congress folks, get on board. I know we're the insurance state, but that won't last either way (as they all outsource out of state or out of country) and the country needs this now.

Wonder why they listed alpha from left-to-right-- makes it a little hard to search easily.
