You want to know what is really driving the Republicans stark raving mad? Its two words |
|
Patriot Act
They won't say it because it was their beloved Bush/Cheney who gave it to them.
But the idea that President Obama is the one now in control of it is eating their brains. Because every one of them has done something illegal at one time or another.
But they won't say that.
But I know damn well this is it.

Many of us discussed this matter when it passed. Would the GOP be so shortsighted as to allow this horrid bill into law knowing that someday a Democrat would have the powers it provides the Executive.

4. When that travesty was first proposed, I was at dinner with some people who fully supported it. . . |

I asked them, how were they going to feel when President Clinton had that kind of control over their lives.
One guy laughed heartily as he said in a very condescending tone, "Clinton isn't President anymore."
I told him I meant President Hillary.
The look on their faces said it all but the maroons still insisted losing their rights was an acceptable price "given the world we live in."
I often wonder what they must think of their world today.

You have to give them credit for stepping back from the edge on that one.

Patriot Act implications, they just "know" it's good because FAUX told them it was fighting terrorist (who, in their minds are also only brown skinned people)
The simplest part is the racism. They are afraid that scary black guy in the White house is going to take something from them and give it to "his people" (ie: Welfare Queens).
And I think a lot of that is guilt, they know they've treated African American's like shit for decades - so of course they think there's going to be some sort of payback

Black President
That's what truly drives them bonkers. It was bad enough in the 90s when a guy who was born poor and was a nominal part of the 60s "counter-culture," beat two war heroes. Now there's a Black man leading us? If a white, old protestant man can't take back the White House in 2012, America is doomed.
