So about Chris Matthews
In between Ed Schultz, Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow, we have a sideshow
called Chris Matthews.

Why does MSNBC continue to keep this man? Why don't they put him on at three in the morning if they feel they have to keep him?

I don't know how many DUers watch him, or respect him. To me, he's a cartoon they show to fill time before the main attraction. Come to think of it, I'd really rather watch an hour of Road Runner cartoons that watch Matthews.

Anyhow, that's my opinion of him. What's yours?

1. I don't think he's a real person. I think he's just an animatronic head.
A big, giant, puffy animatronic head.

Luke Russert. I haven't been able to tune into MSNBC all day because this half-wit is constantly "reporting" from Capital Hill.

For all our trashing of Mathews, at least he's not "an idiot son" of a treasured yet deceased member of MSNBC's news team.

3. I hate his show but he's no worse than
Joe Scarborough, and god knows how many DUers are fascinated by that show, and are under the delusion that watching Morning Joe but yet referring to him as Joe Scum in their 8 million posts about him somehow negates the fact that they are watching that show and supporting him and his reprehensible views and history.

4. I don't think he needs a repeat after
The Ed Show. We need somebody else and not a conservative. The day time hours have enough of them. How about Ezra Klein or David Sirota for some hard news?

5. Sometimes he can be good. I've seen him take apart some rethugs.
But he is a bit erratic. You know what you get when you turn on Keith or Rachel...

6. He's a joke
He has no core beliefs, but he has sort of a homoerotic fascination with political figures who he considers "manly".

One of the reasons I never watch him is I got tired of almost puking every time I saw him slobbering all over that little punk Bug Boy Delay.

11. Really? I love Ed
I disagree, and don't like that noob lecturing and scolding this long-time activist - but I love his passion and agree 99% of the time with him.

14. I don't care for his delivery.
Plus he wont leave alone some of the stupid stories that he should
like Tiger Woods and the Balloon boy for example.
I do agree that Chris is a turd nugget most of the time.
I hate the talking over people bullshit.
Thats what Rove and the republicans do.
We should be better than that.

9. I like him. He's passionate about history and politics and it shows
Yes, he says stupid things at times--sexist things, things that sound racist. But he is among my favorites on MSNBC, along with Shuster and maybe Tam'ron.

10. MSNBC is my only TV news, But Mathews and Andrea Mitchell
are not part of their growing market. Morning Joe is less of a propagandist than Mitchell. They have better choices for talent. Donahue is still around, and Moyers is unemployed, no?

Laura Flanders, and Amy Goodman deserve a shot. Even Stephanie Miller has the potential to admit that Obama is a corporatist one day. And anybody at FAIR for that matter!

I'm a loyal MSNBC watcher, every day.

we're on empty, and are way out in the wilderness, and mathews tells us that even with money, there's nothing true available (in news media) the allies lost WW2 to the reactionary fascists but it's now becoming very obvious. Obama is one of theirs(?) i fear, like the clintoons were

Interesting choice of spelling for the former POTUS and the current SoS.

22. no i don't
'clintoon' was the way the freepers used to spell it when they were hating. Looking at the record, when have the Clintons ever truly defied the reactionaries anyway? The reactionarty right is so terrible powerful that everything is warped by nearness to it...and if Obama really wanted to fight the reactionary right (or the established powers in the USA) why bother with HCR; why not decalre 'end' of the war on drugs, pointing out it's a fraud and empowers america's enemies and has cost more US lives then all wars in US history, and that WOD success just enhances the profits for criminal drug industry anyway, etc, but NOOOOO! It hadda be the one thing the repubs can fight against while secretly assuring the thing gets through. IOW it's fraud. It further defrauds people who hate police statism yet find themselve promoting police state interest because Obama is pushing the HCR bill as if it's socialist! klol! Regardless, it's the rightwing pigmedia fraudsters hiding in the shadows who control what the people think they think THEY THINK and they win by fighting Obama while enjoying the profits passage of the damn thing gives at same time. IOW, had Obama gone on vac 6 months ago, and never spent a minute on HCR, it still get by because the pig wanted it all along. It is a nice present for reactionaries (who still will get to scream 'communist' at prez Obama and set up next round of rightwing presidents)
Time is running out, is my concern

One day progressives like him; most days we tolerate him and then some days we hate him. Tweety earned his place in the big tent.

18. Meh...I like Matthews about half the time.
As others have said - when he's good, he's really good.

I love Maddow, Schultz, Shuster, and O'Donnell - in fact I would love O'Donnell to have the 7:00 show.
I still like Olbermann, but he can be grating at times. He got me through the horrid bush years (after I discovered him via a youtube on DU), so I will always be thankful to him for that.

I can't STAND Scarborough and his crazy wife Mika, Mitchell, Todd, or Russert.

20. Just thought of something else about Chris...
Another thread is discussing words that are mispronounced on news broadcasts, and it reminded me of Chris Matthews and his weird obsession with Cheney's name. What is that all about? He will interrupt guests in the middle of a point to correct them - "it's CHEE-ney - if you're going to pronounce it, pronounce it right - it's CHEE-ney!!!!!". Or he'll start the show with something like, "Tonight - Dick CHEE-ney's at it again. Not Liz Cheney - she pronounces it 'CHAY-ney', but Dick CHEE-ney, he pronounces it 'CHEE-ney'".

WTF...let it go, Chris.

24. Two complaints I have about Chris is that he seems to be in awe of...
the Idiot better known as Sarah Palin. He also gives too much attention to that murderer, Cheney and Cheney's loon of a daughter. Otherwise, he's okay to me.
