Whole Foods - organic assholes?

Whole Foods, United Natural Foods Muscle Suppliers to Boycott Consumer Group

The Organic Consumers Association (OCA) carries a big public interest stick.

It can mobilize the 850,000 people in its network to pressure corporations and governments.

The goal – clean, safe, organic foods and products for America.

One way that OCA raises money – it charges for ads on the group’s popular web site – organicconsumers.org.

Two companies had purchased logo space on the OCA web site – Organic Valley and Nature’s Path.

Until last year.

That’s when the groups dropped their sponsorship - under pressure from Whole Foods Market and United Natural Foods – the two companies that dominate the organics market in the United States. ..........(more)

1. I haven't spend a dime with them since their asshole CEO spoke out against healthcare.
Haven't regretted it one bit.

7. Me also, and I never will again. And...
And Starbucks can shove their paper cups up their asses, with the Diane Medved quotes on them (psychologist wife of Neocon Hate Radio Jock Michael Medved). Fuck Whole Foods, Fuck Starbucks.

3. whole foods has come a long way from sixth and lamar...and should have watchdogs
its a shame to read this, but we all have to know that this is happening. WF is a huge company, publicly traded, and the mba's salivate at the chance to take 'organic' into territory into doesnt belong. having seen it explode here in new york, i would doubt it if the company stayed true to its original roots and stay as progressive as it might have been.

4. Merely a buzzword
You're right, "organic" is the best thing that came along for marketing types -- one word that will double the sales price with no questions asked. Well, questions may be asked, but nothing that the standard deck of lies can't answer.

5. It's so depressing here in Berkeley
Every time I go by the parking lot is full and the front is a buzz of activity. There are so many other wonderful alternatives here. I never went there myself, even before their CEO's libertarian tantrum (I know a scam when I see one). I see all kinds go in there - plenty of progressive hippie types. You'd think Berkeley folks would know better, or care more.

6. Same in Ann Arbor....
Plenty of natural foods stores, a great farmer's market and a food co-op.....but the parking lot at either of the Whole Foods stores is always packed.

8. Threaten a boycott of Organic Valley and Nature’s Path
Or I guess we need to find OCA new sponsors. I love their emails. One of the few I look at.
