Why is MSNBC not available on Satellite radio?

I work in sales. I am on the road alot. I have weeks when I can drive an average of 250 miles per day.

MSNBC is not available on Satellite radio. It's not available on Sirius, XM, or in the combo radio format.

FOX news has their channel on Satellite radio. Plus they have FOX news talk radio too. (This is in addition to yet another separate conservative talk radio station not affiliated with FOX news.)

CNN has their channel on Satellite radio. In fact even Headline news is available.

But there is no MSNBC.... anywhere to be found.

With my satellite TV provider, both FOX and CNN are available with standard basic TV packages. I have to move up to the premium "cable package" to watch Rachel Maddow and Keith Olbermann every night. Essentially for me and many other viewers, MSNBC amounts to a premium cable channel like HBO or Cinemax.

Direct TV still does not have MSNBC in HD. CNN is in HD. FOX news is in HD. Heck, even the FOX Business news channel is in HD! But not MSNBC!

MSNBC is a part of the NBC family.

Why are they so far behind everyone else when it comes to availability?

I know there has been a lot of discussion here concerning the number of viewers FOX news has compared to the other news channels. But it's not really close to a fair fight. And it's not a cop out. MSNBC "EVEN NOW" still is not available to a lot of us in the numbers the general public might think it is.

1. Because then too many people might figure out what kind of
shit is really going on.

Can't have that.

2. It actually was available at one time on XM.
Unfortunately, that ended in 2006.

3. There are two NPR stations on Sirius which do talk radio all day. I like them a lot
better than MSNBC.

:hi:

4. I have been listening to the POTUS station to keep up over the last few days...

But I would still like to have MSNBC as a part of my "radio arsenal." I just don't understand why when it comes to availability, they are still so far behind CNN and FOX.

6. I wonder how many folks have never even seen MSNBC due to limited availability?
I wish they had their own online "live" presence that would introduce the network to millions of potential viewers.

Although you can find lower quality MSNBC live feeds on the internet, if MSNBC hosted their own online live video feed like CNN does, their profile would be much higher. When a network needs more exposure, why ignore the advertising benefit of employing the largest alternate media?

7. I was told by Sirius
they dropped MSNBC because they wanted too much for their feed. That and Air American was why I went with Sirius in Oct 2004. By the time I got set up, they were both dropped.

There are so many right wing stations, and Sirius Left is not what it once was, so I don't listen during the daytime. I do enjoy Book Radio at night.

9. Lynn Samuels is awful.

How does her show manage to monopolize Sirius Left every afternoon?

And Ed Schultz's show is on tape delay at 3pm "AFTER" Lynn Samuels!

I just don't get it.

10. GE Has No Interest In Radio
When they bought NBC in the late 80s the first thing they did was sell all the NBC radio properties and then sold the NBC radio network name. THey are strictly a television company while Faux has several radio interests (they don't own stations but provide programming for Cheap Channel who has a big stake in XM-Sirius) as well as CNN who also provide their audio to radio stations.

If I had satellite (which I have zero interest in) I'd subscribe to XM Left...

16. XM used to have an MSNBC channel
Oddly enough, it seemed to vanish right about the time the channel started airing something other than right wing horseshit. So when they had Don "nappy head" Imus or Mikey "eat a sausage and die of AIDS, you fa**ot" Weiner Savage, that was perfectly fine, but the minute Keith Olbermann said a word critical of the Chimp, suddenly XM wanted nothing to do with the channel. (and this was when Tweety was still talking about what a "man" Chimpy was, and long before anyone ever thought of putting Rachel or Ed on TV)
