HCR: Once Again, Mass. Gets Zero Respect
Edited on Mon Mar-22-10 10:03 PM by MannyGoldstein
Did you know that Massachusetts probably has the best public schools in the country? Our students consistently score the best in the country in standardized tests, and in fact if Mass were a country our students would be http://www.doe.mass.edu/news/news.aspx?id=4457">something like the third highest-scoring in the world.

But does anyone in charge give a fuck? Nah, instead of studying a public-school system that works superbly, the folks in charge are pursuing a bizarre privatization and union-busting strategy which, the evidence to date demonstrates, is a great way to make the situation worse.

Go figure! I guess that evidence is still out of fashion, another attitudinal holdover from the Bush years.

Likewise, there seems to be a dearth of credit for Mass. in leading the way forward on the current health care "reform" legislation. Let us not forget that this is simply our own RomneyCare writ nationwide. At least most of us in Mass. think this was Romney's baby, although some - who are smarter than me - say it was actually created by former Mass House Speaker Sal DiMasi, a Democrat. Sal is currently under indictment for extortion. Hmmm...

And this thing would have never come to fruition without our own Senatorial Teabagger, Scott Brown. For a full year the "Democrats" though that whining about Republicans (and DINOS) obstructing everything was a winning policy. Until Scott Brown won. Then they suddenly realized that the 60-votes-needed-for-everything-woe-is-us thing wasn't working, and, hey presto!, thet were able to eke out RomneyCare-For-All.

In any case, I hope that people will one day give our Commonwealth the respect it deserves. We're small, but we always seem to lead the parade. Hey, we also started the Revolution!

2. You are assuming that the objective is to improve the educational system in the US..
That assumption is unwarranted, IMO..

Follow the money and I think you'll find that the true objective is to make certain people extremely rich.
