Forehead, meet Brick Wall |

One of my winger in-laws sometimes sends generic funnies in email. So, like an idiot, I opened the one whose subject line was "You Can't Fix Stupid." Yup, it was one of those ridiculously fictionalized horror stories about Obama. No, I won't repeat it here, you've likely already seen it. Her remark preceding the idjitbit was that her husband had served in the military to give "this guy the right to say stuff like this." Our subsequent 'conversation':
Me: Hi, you obviously misfired this into my mailbox. It's untrue, by the way (enclosed appropriate Snopes reference).
Winger: Well, it looks like it's mostly not true. . .but he would have done it if he could.
Me: So, it's now 'presumed guilty until proven innocent'? I always thought it was the other way around; guess you really can't fix my kind of stupid, huh?
Winger: I wouldn't know. Can we drop this now?

5. I thank the good lord every morning that I don't have family members that do this sort of thing. |
|
We are all good liberals (well, except my BIL's mom, but she hardly counts as family). And my BIL is a firm atheist to boot.

6. I love calling people out on their bullshit |
|
Half the time they just stammer out some gibberish about socialism and government takeovers.

7. What is with wingnuts that they believe that if you served in the military you |
|
are above everyone else. Somehow, if you say I was in the military, that you get a pass on anything you say. I equate to them saying, I have a black friend so I'm allowed to drop the N-bomb

10. What they actually mean by the military reference is "Hey you! STFU!" My response is... |
|
"Thank you for your service, but we ALL have the birthright of free speech."

11. When I got drafted some 45 years or so ago, it wasn't to give anyone any rights... |
|
it was to continue the killing of Vietnamese peasants who were, for some reason, designated as our enemy.
Not much has changed since, except the draft.
