Tweety on now: "I was a stupid fucking dumbass!"
Edited on Tue May-01-07 05:13 PM by Atman
OMFG! I can't believe I'm hearing this. Tweets is trying to claim "I didn't know there was a conflict between Sunnis and Shiites! I didn't know there'd be all these problems!" He's trying to claim Bush fooled everybody, including him.

:wtf:

2. Bush probably did fool him.
And he probably didn't know about Sunnis and Shiites.

But neither is an excuse. In his position, he should have been informed, or made himself informed, and he shouldn't have been gullible.

10. Yeah right!!!
ANYONE that studied Iraq enough to know that they weren't co-operating with the inspectors, and they had weapons of mass destruction, AND they had tubes that they could build Atom bombs with, didn't know there was a problem with the 2 warring classes in Iraq AFTER the Russians warred with Iraq just a few years back??

Do they think we are all that stupid????

Don't these people in the news read what I read on the net and see on the news??

13. His true calling was to be a shoe salesman in Brooklyn. If he had followed that
he would have had no need for such knowledge of the world.

Give him credit where credits due. Maybe he's saying he wasn't against it ENOUGH or something. Either way, I don't see much attacking him over this.

12. Wha-wha-whaaat?
Tweety was "against the war?" He might have claimed to have been against it, but he was one of the most ardent cheerleaders FOR it. No excuse for Tweets. NONE. If he's going to be on a so-called "news" channel, he has to have at least a pedestrian knowledge of the world situation. 80% of DUers knew what Tweety says caught him by surprise. BULLSHIT. Tweety is ass-covering. Nothing more, nothing less.

16. Look At Who He Gave Voice To
He let this regime's mouthpieces come on night after night...drooling over Tom DeLay or Annie Coultergiest or The G Man or 30 Grit O'Bierne...to cheerlead for this war for profit. He talks one way and walks another...and it's the deeds that we now see, not his past thoughts.

Nor will I forget him expecting us to give credit to the little monkey for admitting his "bring it on" challenge to the insurgents. It only took him THREE FREAKIN' YEARS to do it.

29. He should apologize for that as well
COULTER: It's stunning. It's amazing. I think it's huge. I mean, he's landing on a boat at 150 miles per hour. It's tremendous. It's hard to imagine any Democrat being able to do that. And it doesn't matter if Democrats try to ridicule it. It's stunning, and it speaks for itself.

MATTHEWS: Pat Caddell, the president's performance tonight on television, his arrival on ship?

CADDELL: Well, first of all, Chris, the -- I think that -- you know, I was -- when I first heard about it, I was kind of annoyed. It sounded like the kind of PR stunt that Bill Clinton would pull. But and then I saw it. And you know, there's a real -- there's a real affection between him and the troops.

<...>

MATTHEWS: The president there -- look at this guy! We're watching him. He looks like he flew the plane. He only flew it as a passenger, but he's flown --

CADDELL: He looks like a fighter pilot.

Up to Bush's Mission Accomplished moment Tweety was just about orgasmic over the war and Bush. That is the way the transcripts read.

These mea culpas without accountability or consequences are getting old, like the "mission accomplished" charade four years ago.

Everybody who was fooled needs to lose his/her job ASAP!

It's a matter of national security.

11. The question remains, Mr. Mathews
What are you going to do about it? Now that you know you were lied to and played for a sucker, what do you intend to do about it? Will you now evince some skepticism over a White House announcement that fits in too nicely by half with their message of the day (such as, I dunno, the breathless announcement that the #2 man in Al Qaeda was killed in a raid)? Will you challenge self-serving talking points? Will you stop having uncredited apologists for these liars on your show? Or, if you feel you must have them on your show, at the very least inform your audience of a guest's ties to the administration?

Or is this like going to Confession for a lot of Catholics? Go, confess, do the penance, then resume doing exactly what you were doing before and repeat the process next month?

21. This is one of the most amazing Tweety episodes I've ever seen.
He's denying his entire past, his whole reason d'etre. But still, he asks -- ney, TELLS -- his guests, "Won't this ultimately help Bush in the long run?" It's totally surreal!

as THE example in a screaming tirade. My basic point was if an English teacher from Boston could find out the truth just by, oh, I don't know, asking an actual expert and then writing down the answers...then no one had an excuse for not knowing.

and was just about to opine that Tweety was gonna say something for which he needed a Wingnut Among Wingnuts on the show, in order to have someone/anyone on the show that would make even him appear somewhat centrist.

so not surprised at this BS mea culpa. he had Blackwell on today so there would be someone even HE would look good next to.
