Heads Up: Prayer Warriors and Sarah Palin Are Organizing Spiritual Warfare to Take Over America

The New Apostolic Reformation, the largest religious movement you've never heard of, aims to take control of communities through 'prayer warriors.'

March 1, 2010 |

Imagine a religious movement that makes geographic maps of where demons reside and claims among its adherents the Republican Party's most recent vice presidential nominee and whose leaders have presided over prayer sessions (one aimed at putting the kibosh on health-care reform) with a host of leading GOP figures.

It's a movement whose followers played a significant role in the battle over Proposition 8, California's anti-same-sex marriage initiative, and Uganda's infamous proposed Anti-Homosexuality Law, more commonly associated with the Family, a religious network of elites drawn from the ranks of business and government throughout the world. But the movement we're imagining encompasses the humble and the elite alike, supporting a network of "prayer warriors” in all 50 states, within the ranks of the U.S. military, and at the far reaches of the globe -- all guided by an entire genre of books, texts, videos and other media.

Imagine that, and you've just dreamed up the New Apostolic Reformation, the largest religious movement you've never heard of.

NAR's videos, according to researcher Rachel Tabachnick, "demonstrate the taking control of communities and nations through large networks of 'prayer warriors' whose spiritual warfare is used to expel and destroy the demons that cause societal ills. Once the territorial demons, witches, and generational curses are removed, the 'born-again' Christians in the videos take control of society."

In the days leading up to the historic vote on health-care reform in the Senate, Apostle Lou Engle led the Family Research Council's "Prayercast” against health-care reform, a Webcast featuring Republican Senators Jim DeMint (S.C.) and Sam Brownback (Kans.), and Rep. Michele Bachmann (Minn.). Earlier in the year, Engle, who leads the group TheCall, prayed over Newt Gingrich at a Virginia event called Rediscovering God in America. In 2008, Engle, at an event he staged at San Diego's Qualcomm Stadium, advocated acts of Christian martyrdom to end abortion and same-sex marriage. This "apostle" claims LGBT people are possessed by demons. And Engle is not the only NAR apostle with political connections.

2. Another boon for capitalism and fascism in disquise:
Wagner teachers that there will soon be a "great transfer of wealth" from the ungodly to the godly and has set up structures in preparation. The Wagner Leadership Institute teaches courses in prophecy as well as foreign currency exchange.

(like we haven't had enough of that already for those that assume godliness over us all already?)

Mammon is obviously in with them these days! I am not even going into the obvious disconnect from the very mouth at core of the teachings they pretend to be following in this financial and political Jihad brewing. It plays well into the stage of Fascism we are currently in and I know that is not a popular subject here even though it is on schedule, functional, and well-positioned as we transition from a previous mindset that few have woken up from in time to realize where this is now and where it is going. Damn, connecting the dots is not that hard a game to play, but the media and powers that be will not do that for you.

Brilliant methodology for leading the blind where you want them to go, though. Using the term, "warriors" should be considered for what it literally implies. Lots of fun times ahead and everything is rather primed for the party to come.

24. connecting the dots is not that hard
At the end of the dots, a picture comes clear that most don't want to acknowledge. With Corporatism/Fascism on the rise - without any noticeable deterrent - it's helped along by indoctrinating people to believe anything (any ideology or set of myths) that will delay them from recognizing the waters around us are already neck high.

Modern popular movements in general seem inclined to enable the rise of Fascism. I see little distinction at this point between the New Age movement and the Dominionist Christian statists. One believes everything will be OK by 2012 and the world will become a pastoral petting zoo with lots of well dressed, well fed enlightened white people. Magical positive thinking has neutered them. The other believes the world will become a Kingdom of Christian dominion and law where low information white people will finally get all the goodies they deserve and be able to watch their enemies suffer. I won't even try to split hairs about the TeaBags. That group seems like a potpourri of crazy that doesn't fit anywhere else - except that they are, as a group, supremely useful tools for the Corporatists.

4. I got it covered....
I sacrificed a chicken to Zul the Almighty tonight. That should trump any of those prayers to a lesser god.

Sacrificed that sucker with a honey/mustard glaze, too.

8. It's amazing that this kind of nonsense occurs in 2010.
Are we never going to get past the demons and devils and sky gods of our prehistoric past? Religion is a vestige of an earlier stage of our evolution, kind of like the appendix or the tailbone. With some people, it's apparently all they've got. Sad. Very sad.

Well, that's THEM, and I for one look forward to seeing all their pointy little heads explode. Might be a good idea to start wearing a slicker all the time, ya know, all that blood and stuff. I don't expect there'll be much brain matter though.

23. Christian assassins
Christian assassins and prayer warriors, as pathetic as they are, have no unique claim to vermin-hood. Most religions seem by default, to attract their own stock of stunted sewer dwellers, idiot exorcists and god channelers. Watch out for the demon hunters especially. They're inclined to bloody fantasies of inquisition and purging of infidels. In America it isn't quite a matter of religion as we traditionally think of it. The Right-wing Dominionists (starting back with Rev. Moon and the Tim LaHaye franchise) have rolled out a new species of corporate sponsored faith-based political mob with the full sanction of a twisted new "American God". What Palin is promoting has the feel of a proto-statist faith. Dangerous. The insanity of locating Hellmouth and other nests of demons on a U.S. map should be a heads-up that something is gone rotten.

Violence against imaginary demons is only a step away from violence against "enemies" who are said to be under demonic influence. All sorts of things get justified in God's name.
If they think at all, they all think alike - useful for demagogues who might want to whip a mob into a frenzy for one reason or another.
