I was a bit turned off by the new BSG at first, because it looked like Yet Another Space Shooter. It's a boring scifi meme that has been done a million times, and it's a sign that a franchise has lost its creativity.

When BSG shifted its focus to the people and away from constant combat, it became FAR more interesting. Caprica, which is set in the same "world" and contains NO space shootouts at all, is just as interesting.
