For my fundie friends on FB: God's Welfare plan
God: Humankind has sinned, will surely be destroyed and suffer the consequences of their actions. But I shall send my son to die for them and save them.

Jesus (Matthew 6): 28 And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they neither toil nor spin; 29 yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O men of little faith? 31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, `What shall we eat?' or `What shall we drink?' or `What shall we wear?' 32 For the Gentiles seek all these things; and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things shall be yours as well. 34 "Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Let the day's own trouble be sufficient for the day.

Mans Welfare plan: Get a job! Pull yourself up by your bootstraps. Save yourself. Not my job. I got mine, why should I care? You made mistakes now live with them, you made the bed lay in. Me. Me. Me.

"Let the day's own trouble be sufficient for the day." - Today others need help, not ridicule or beating about because of their past.

Matt. 7:4
"How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?"

2. Caring for your neighbor. A Christian thing? Yes.
During the votes, the gathering last night, and the signing today I couldn't help thinking this is what true christianity looks like.

4. Not to go off topic, but every time I see the words "consider the lillies of the field"
I think of Oh Brother Where Art Thou.

"Pete, the personal rancor reflected in that remark I don't intend to dignify with comment. But I would like to address your general attitude of hopeless negativism. Consider the lilies of the goddamn field or... hell! Take at look at Delmar here as your paradigm of hope."

Which, come to think of it, is also applicable :)
