Overheard at the office today |
|
Just WAIT till we see how much our health insurance goes up in price next year. It's going to be just terrible.
I had to reply. "Do you know how much it went up from last year to this year?"
No. He didn't remember.
So I reminded him. 35%. Plus the benefits are worse.
Odd how they never notice until somebody screams that they have to notice.
Then he said, "and we won't no until January, conveniently after the November elections."
I replied, "no, like ALWAYS, we'll know in October, BEFORE the November elections. "Furthermore, there won't be a cap. There won't be pre-existing condition clauses, nobody will get dumped of their insurance for having the audacity to get sick."
"But I bet it goes up 50%."
"If you are wrong, will you still think this is a bad idea?"
"I don't know."
"Well, at least you'll know in time for the elections and can make your decision based on fact instead of fear."

will not be a consideration as long as these people continue to get their "facts" from FAUX.

I swear I'm talking to children at work. I also just reminded him that his kid can continue to be on his insurance when he finishes college next June and isn't that wonderful?
He said, "That would be nice, but it's illegal."
FACEPALM!

10. We have a backward element in this country that is incapable of learning/acknowledging |
|
rational fact. It seems to have little to do with education or intelligence, it seems to be a Level of density that can't be penetrated. When I used to work abroad they called it "The Dumb American."
When out with some really brilliant scholars once in Europe I really had no idea what they were talking about. I had the good sense to keep my mouth shut later being told that was unusual for an American. The attitude was Americans often blabber on not knowing what they are talking about and without knowledge or facts, and that is how many sound to me when they make inane comments about the implications of the HC bill, spewing distortions and misinformation.

5. I heard this one today ... "Now my tax dollars will go for health care for people on WELFARE!! |
|
I told her that anyone on welfare is already getting Medicaid, and people without Medicaid or private health insurance are going to emergency rooms for treatment, and the insureds are paying for that most-expensive care in ever-increasing annual premium heists.
She looked at me strangely. I asked where she was getting her information and she said, "the news." I asked "which" news and she said, of course, Fox News, and the radio.
People should be outraged to discover the lies they've been told by the right-wing propagandists, if they have retained a functioning brain after long-term exposure to toxic information via Fox and the hate talkers.

Office life is just an extension of high school anyway...not surprising after hearing what my husband deals with.
His boss thought his Obama bumper sticker was a joke...the repukes in his office are so pissed now! It's quite humorous! At least they stopped sending him the "Osama-Obama, socialist, commie, end-of-the-world, offensive-to-any-cognitive-american" emails...

8. I can't say this enough: Write it down |
|
Date it, and have them initial it. Then seal it in an envelope, and put both of your thumb prints over the sealed seam. Mutually agree that you'll open it the last week of October, and when your nitwit co-worker refuses, taunt him. If he's truly stupid enough to agree, hold onto the envelope until the agreed date, and have him open it. Then make him eat it.
