Mine is from the gym locker room today.

One guy made a sarcastic crack saying "At least we have health care now." The man he was talking to was a 60ish white guy. That comment got him ranting about the health care law being "communism!"

I couldn't hold my tongue. I told him that private insurance companies will remain private, just with new rules, and that if anything, the government is bringing them new business. It's not ownership of the insurance companies by the government, just new regulations. I know a whole lot of liberals who hate the law because it doesn't have a Medicare-type government option.

I didn't even bother telling him that he was welcome to give up his Medicare if he isn't on it already.

(Yeah, I know this sounds BouncyBallish to you old-timer DUers, but that's how it went, lol)

His reaction? He stared dumbly for maybe 5 seconds and said, "All I know is that it's communism!"

I told him that if the free market was so wonderful, why does the status quo for health care suck? He had no reply for that.

The old teabagger sounded like a rerun from 1954. :D

I was done anyway, and left.

3. I can't tell my anecdote on DU.
It contains a vicious albeit inappropriate use of the R-word.

5. They literally don't know what they are saying.
You were brave to even try talking to the guy. You might as well have tried to convince Glenn Blech himself!

6. Ain't that the truth!
These idiots absolutely no fucking clue as to what is in the bill. One of those clowns commented on a poll in my local newspaper. She was hysterical because she liked her insurance, and now she was "going to have to buy this." That was followed up by all the usual bullshit talking points about her taxes supposedly were going to go up, etc., etc., etc. I pointed out that there is no "this" that she will be forced into buying, and that, no, her taxes were not going up, and "etc., etc. etc." are not true. I ended by suggesting she do herself a favor: Turn off Fox Propaganda Channel and READ THE DAMN BILL!! I will probably avoid going back there to read any reply, as I can't deal with all of that willful ignorance. As y'all have pointed out, they don't want to hear the truth.

7. They should read the bill, and soon.
Wasn't "Read the bill!" one of those things that the teabaggers shouted at the town halls? Why do they themselves refuse to actually learn about the damn thing?

I saw a thread on FR (yeah, I know) where the OP asked his/her fellow Freeps for help pinpointing the length of the jail term specified in the bill for those who refuse to buy insurance or pay the fine. (Of course, there is no such provision.) It was kind of funny reading the comments as everyone flailed about to avoid saying "Um, there's nothing like that in there." It reminded me of that doofus lady trying to get support from McLame about Obama being an "Arab".

They're nuts.
