1. I heard 1% of your income starting in 2014 and then in 2016 2.5%
and it goes up from there not to exceed 750.00 I think.

7. Well if you don't work likely you income is rather low.
There are some subsidies for persons below 150% of poverty line.

12. If you don't make enough to file a tax return or the premium would be more than 8% of your income
you are exempt from the fine.

5. $95 to start in 2014, then $695 by 2016
Most Americans would need to line up insurance, starting in 2014, or get slapped with a fine. The pain would be small at first -- $95, or up to 1 percent of income, whichever is greater, for an individual. By 2016, the fine would increase to $695, or 2.5 percent of income.

6. Not blaming you but the $95 and $695 lowball true cost.
Edited on Tue Mar-23-10 03:47 PM by Statistical
It is 1% in 2014 going to 2.5% in 2016.

The Median personal income is $39,336.
In 2014 1.0% would be $393.36 per person at Median income without Healthcare.
By 2014 2.5% would be $983.40 per person at Median income without Healthcare.

A household filing jointly with two uninsured persons would face double that in punitive taxes.

Once again this isn't on you I just thought it is interest how much media pushes the minimums when most Americans will pay substantially more.

9. The insurance is private market so the price will be whatever
insurance companies determine it needs to be.
