the Harris Poll...
http://firedoglake.com/2010/03/23/new-harris-poll-finds-nearly-one-fourth-of-republicans-believe-obama-may-be-the-antichrist/

67 percent of Republicans (and 40 percent of Americans overall) believe that Obama is a socialist
45 percent of Republicans (25 percent overall) agree with the Birthers in their belief that Obama was “not born in the United States and so is not eligible to be president”
38 percent of Republicans (20 percent overall) say that Obama is “doing many of the things that Hitler did”

On the heels of health care, a new Harris poll reveals Republican attitudes about Obama: Two-thirds think he’s a socialist, 57 percent a Muslim—and 24 percent say “he may be the Antichrist.”

Holy shit are there a lot of jerk offs calling themselves Republican. I blame the upper esceleon of the party for allowing and sometimes encouraging this type of thinking. Democrats should be asking their republican opponents do you seriously think Obama is A) the Anti-Christ, B) a Muslim and C) the second coming of Hitler. If not, then why don't you denounce those in your party that do?

2. All of the more "normal" Republicans have changed their registration to Independent

That's why the polls skew this way.

Half the people who call themselves Independents are more properly described as "former Republicans".

Those that are left are the ultimate wingnut crazies.

It's why their party is dying.

3. I actually just heard some jackass on Ratigan's show try to parse the Hitler response.
"Well... who knows exactly what the respondents meant when they said he was like Hitler..."

The media is afraid to put the onus of the craziness where it really belongs.

4. That's what prompted me to post this...
Codingthe response was...

38 percent of Republicans (20 percent overall) say that Obama is “doing many of the things that Hitler did."

Idon'tt see how that can be misunderstood. NoWiemarr republic bullshit like the regular respondent would know that anyway.

7. That's what happens when the Republican-appealing media repeats all this over and over
This ain't surprising given the anti-Obama hate speech has been turned up to the max on conservative talk radio shows, Fox News, and right-wing junk news like Newsmax and Worldnetdaily.

8. Party of Personal Responsibility = Zombies in the movie "Night of the Living Dead"
NEW HARRIS POLL:

What republicans think of Obama:

67%  He's a socialist
57%  He's a Muslim
45%  Not born in the USA
38%  Doing what Hitler did
24% He's the antiChrist

March 1-8, 2010

This poll is great news for the democratic party. It shows that the republican party has continued to go further and further right and with each step toward extremism they lose credibility and their future as a viable political party. No republican leaders denounce the lunacy from the Tea Partiers and other conservative extremist factions within their party. They bow down to the likes of hatemongers like Rush Limbaugh, even apologizing if they dared offend him.

The numbers in this poll reflect a growing ignorance and radical hysteria in the republican party. It is obvious they are only listening to the most extreme, outrageous and even insane right wing radio hosts and Fox News talking heads.

No intelligent, reasonable person could ever respond to such a poll agreeing with these questions. But the republican party has ceased to be a political party, it has become a mutant menagerie of mindless malcontents always eager to believe the latest rants from the nearest conservative extremist, without thought, without question and certainly without performing a fact check.

G.O.P. = R.I.P.
