Alan Grayson on His Medicare Buy-In and Reality Show Personality Palin By Heather Tuesday Mar 23, 20
Source: Crooks and Liars

I've introduced a three-and-a-half page bill called Medicare -- the Medicare You Can Buy Into Act, HR 4789. And I think that that's the missing piece to this bill.

I would really welcome this choice because it provides a competitive option. Also Medicare has a track record of being affordable and reliable health care. While this is information we have all been aware of, I thought it was good to hear he still working on moving this forward. I wasn't sure how this was being dealt with in light of the insurance bill passed.

4. Mar 9, 2010: Referred to the House Committee on Ways and Means.
I realize this is in the first stage of the process and many bills never make it out of this phase, but I hope because of the 80 sponsors this gets out of committee.

6. HR 676 (filed in 2005 & still pending) has 100 sponsors. Never even made it to the CBO.

7. If House and Senate leadership wants to get Grayson's bill done I think they could.
It essentially adds no cost to the gov't. Starting out the people buying in to the system have to pay for their added costs in the system. So like a lot of new technology these days the early adopters would pay more but over time the scale of the program would bring down costs for future enrollies. Eventually we could work on subsidizing more people in to this program but this would be a great start.

5. A public option was missing from the HCR bill. (Duh) Will this bill pass, though?
I'm so over the kabuki.
