My RW work friend claims that the racial slurs against Reps. Cleaver, Lewis, Carson never happened.

Or they were staged. He's really adamant about this. He has this friend named Rush who keeps insisting this never happened, and he's investigated it thoroughly via the Drudge Report.

Now he's insulted because I greeted his offering with derisive laughter.

He's got this other friend, I think his name is Glenn or something. And some guy named Sean and another dude named Mark. They seem really loud and rude. I've decided not to hang out with them.

My friend accepted my apology for laughing derisively in front of his friends. Then, he told me that he's come to think that 99% of racists are liberals.

More derisive laughter. More anger.

This situation is getting out of hand.

It's time to stop feeding the crazy in this country. Please join me in calling out bullshit when you hear it, but watch your back.

He listens to me and frequently agrees with me, then he goes away to his radio and everything is the same again.

It's the strangest damned thing. Facts mean nothing, except for maybe a few seconds of realization. Then, it's like rebooting their brains: The faces go blank, and Frank Luntz reappears and takes them over like in the Invasion of the Brain Snatchers, and suddenly, he's calling me telling me that progressives are Marxists.

What's really great is that ring and pullcord on the back of his neck; I get pissed, give it a yank, and Chatty Cathy Frank Luntz comes out.

It's incredibly awesome and scary at the same time.
