2. He's already explained it.
A few weeks ago. Look in his archives if you're really interested.

6. found his explanation to be just as offensive
http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/week_2007_04_08.php#013558

at first he sounds like Tenet.. whining he has no control over ads...then backtracking saying he could remove it if he wanted to.

pathetic imo

3. Not really.....these ads are all over the progressive blogosphere.
If it offsets the costs allowing him to stay in business, that's A-OK with me.

8. Sure...are you a sustaining member?
If not, I think it's a tad bit hypocritical of you to condemn someone who gets advertising to deliver a free service (his content) to you. I kind of like the idea that Ann's paying Josh to tell the truth and expose the lies of people, like Ann Coulter.

13. perhaps I should STOP donating to sites that have right wing
bs ads. Is there any place left? Pray tell...Huffington surely doesn't go that low?

15. That's rather counter-intuitive.
But if it offends your sensibilities, best not to click on the sites.

5. He explained it a few weeks ago
-snip-

Recently there've been a lot of John McCain ads and another ad for some daily email from Ann Coulter. Now, as it happens, these two ads are, I think, coming through the Google ad network. So we don't have any contact with the advertiser. We sign on to the Google Adsense service and the ads just appear. We see them the first time when you do. But that doesn't change the real issue. We could stop them from running if we wanted to. But we don't.

These ads have prompted a lot of emails, ranging from bemusement to curiosity to outrage (with a decided lean toward the end of the list.)

So let me explain again why this is our policy.

Adblock Plus

If you don't have MAC OS X - I am sorry, you might be able to find something in the PC world that will block Google Ads. :-)

Edited on Tue May-01-07 08:28 PM by medeak
what's this about ads unless you donate? sincere question?

edited to say...republican ring tone at bottom of thread...wtf? Is there any respite at all.

Perhaps that is my question...where can I go to escape and be in my little utopia for just a bit?

16. You have to turn it off in your preferences.
You can turn off the ads with a donation.
