So much for respect for private property.

Emptywheel reports on the window breaking that's going on around the country:

On Friday, former militia leader Mike Vanderboegh called for anti-Democratic vandalism across the country to protest the health care bill.

Vanderboegh posted the call for action Friday on his blog, “Sipsey Street Irregulars.” Referring to the health care reform bill as “Nancy Pelosi’s Intolerable Act,” he told followers to send a message to Democrats.

“We can break their windows,” he said. “Break them NOW. And if we do a proper job, if we break the windows of hundreds, thousands, of Democrat party headquarters across this country, we might just wake up enough of them to make defending ourselves at the muzzle of a rifle unnecessary.”

And, apparently in response, there were attacks in–at least–Wichita, KS, Tucson, AZ, Rochester, NY, Niagara Falls, NY. Vanderboegh has proudly claimed credit for the coordinated attacks.

Does this "make defending ourselves at the muzzle of a rifle unnecessary" mean that unless the Democrats stop passing legislation they don't like (wake up) they'll start shooting them? If not, what does he mean? And for whom is he speaking?

Meanwhile, we have the Republican Vice Presidential nominee issuing this tweet today:

Don't retreat. RELOAD....

1. Yes
it is an attempt to threaten people. To scare people with violence. To bully people into doing what they would like. It is anti-democratic.

5. And this guy who's advocating it is a Domestic Terrorist.
Needs to be called that openly and repeatedly. He's also the guy who hates the gummint, but doesn't mind taking those gummint disability checks that are sent to him by those awful, dreaded, anti-American feds.

9. Don't know if that'd ever happen, but it should.
She is DIRECTLY responsible for stirring up a lot of this. She started it during the 2008 campaign, with that "he's PALLING AROUND with TERRRRRISTS..." shit. That, AND the constant reinforcement of the combined 24/7 chorus-from-hell on Pox Noise, the limbaugh machine, and 152-thousand other limbaugh/palin wannabes running unopposed on hate radio from coast-to-coast just barfing out the same angry, hateful, spiteful, utterly deceitful, and now outright menacing and murderous shit.

I've watched it being covered quite heavily on MSNBC all day, and that Tamryn Hall (I think that's her name) hour in which she replayed Rachel Maddow's entire connect-the-dots report from last night's Maddow Show. And then my husband switched it to CNN after awhile and there's Rick Sanchez ALSO covering it, not just the violence against the Congressman's brother's house, but the attacks on other Dems' congressional offices and the threats and the menacing and repeated references and allusions to the option of guns as a viable solution, but also tracing it to hate radio. Didn't name names but DID count down click! It's on this one. Click! There it is on this one too. Click! There it is again over here. Click! Again, same hatred and menacing. So it's GREAT, at least, to see this happening, and to see it reported FINALLY. How many years have we been complaining about this? The constant drumbeat on the airwaves that, as Rick Sanchez even noted, just was getting meaner and meaner, and uglier and uglier - and from THAT end of the spectrum.

At least it's being talked about now. At least the points are now being made, and somebody's connecting the dots - aside from just on Olbermann's and Maddow's shows (especially Maddow's). At least.

Thank God.

10. Violence on their part will further shrink their party.

11. One can hope. But unfortunately, that will only serve to make those remaining
even more shriekingly desperate. And desperate people drive themselves to do desperate things. Especially when they're stirred up and egged on by this calamity chorus that dominates the airwaves and the conservative mindset at present.

12. No, violence will discredit the hate radio crowd. Sure there
will still be that small fringe.

We must stop them from hurting and killing people, but it is more important to not overreact when they do kill and maim. Let's not act like we did after 9-11

4. Even if it's only free speech now it will turn into terrorist attacks
The Glen Beck ilk are really pissed off now. They really thought they had it all sewn up. Bullies may go cower after they're beaten but they will return, only in meaner.

7. Totally apt comparison.
Their unconscious minds act just like those of their Nazi forefathers. (Godwin's law doesn't apply when the comparison is as apt as this.)
