A quick look at possible effects of Health Bill for you (Washington Post)
From The Washington Post:

What does the health care bill mean to me?

The health-care overhaul will change the way millions of Americans get health insurance and require nearly everyone to have health insurance or face penalties. A number of factors - including income, age, location and family size - will determine how it specifically impacts your life. This tool looks at what it could mean for your health coverage and taxes based on your income, family size and current insurance status.

1. None of these tools address the fact that everyone will be protected

against being dropped by their insurance cos if they get sick or having claims for their children denied due to pre-existing conditions. In a few years everyone will be protected against claim denial due to PECs. For me, these are the most important reform measures.

These measures will prevent medical bankruptcies for millions of subscribers to all insurance cos, and I'm breathing a sigh of relief.

I recommended your post with the link anyways, since it is helpful to so many to clarify costs, taxes and rates.

2. ....or the insurance company can pay fines
If you need a very expensive operation and the insurance company decides not to pay the $200,000 bill, they can just pay $100 per day til you die. I think we are still going to see this.
As for pre-existing conditions, I think the premiums will still be out of the normal persons range.
Like "Oh! you had a heart attack? Well of course we'll insure that bad bet, but you have to pay up."

Don't get me wrong, I am glad they passed the bill, but there is stuff like this that has to e regulated within it.

3. Yes, the bill needs tweaking and tightening, but I, too, am glad a start was made.
