The reason that Michele Bachmann is throwing such a histerical tirade against the census is because it will destroy her. She does not give a tinkers damn about damaging other GOP congressional districts. Her district is the most Gerrymandered district in Minnesota and she knows it. Any rational redisttricting body (whether the legislature or a bipartisan commision) is going to take one look at it and rearrange it to make sense which will result in Bachman going down permanently.

Either a combined district will attract more Rational GOP candidates to primary her and/or she will be demolished by the Democrats later.

She probably figures if she makes a big enough stink about this mess people will rise up and champion her for being a 'victim of the census.' She will speak out and her stupid supporters will claim that 'Bachmann is being punished for having the courage to speak out' or some such nonsense.

I can't believe it took me so long to figure it out.

14. No but if she wins this one
and there is a big doubt, she won't get another one. The preacher who owns the mega TV church and steals outright from it, who went on TV and told his members to vote for her, is under investigation. He buys expensive stuff, like houses, jets, boats, hot tubs and any other luxury he can, charges them as a church purchase and then rents them back to himself for peanuts and I mean peanuts. They are looking into that and some other stuff. There have also been complaints of them taking away his tax free status because of the outright support he gave Bachmann on the church TV.

16. That's why I've been wanting to start a church!
So I can get the church to pay for all those things for me. Anyone want to join? I haven't worked out the beliefs yet, except that you'll need to write a check out for 10% of your pretax income to rbixby's church of the great mind.

2. And, it's conspiracy.
Why do repugs keep getting away with inciting people to commit crimes? Ignoring the census is AGAINST THE LAW and she is telling people to ignore it. The teabagger blogger that told people to throw bricks through the windows at Dem offices is still walking around.

3. What is a Census Judge?
Redistricting is done by the State Legislature and not the Census Bureau, although the statistics developed from the Census are used.

5. yup error...
I was writing one sentence between phone calls and mixed it with another after the phonecalls.

Point stands though and it is the only one that makes any sense. Just because Bachmann is crazy doesn't mean she is ignorant as to how bizarre her congressional district is arranged.

4. Oh, dear. You think a census stops gerrymandering. LOL!
No. A census tells a state how many Congressmen it can have. And, I'm guessing, where the people are distributed. The state then cuts itself up to suit itself and the many interests clamoring for a voice. Manhattan carved out a council district to make sure we have Asian representation on the City Council. Sometimes the carving makes things more fair, sometimes it does the opposite....Depends on what the people in charge feel they need.

6. It can have that effect yes.
District lines are rather frequently redrawn after the census. Unless it is a part of the states laws and traditions, doing a redistricting halfway between census (see Texas 2003 redistricting) can be a sign that something fishy is occuring.

8. I doubt if Michele Bachmann even knows what Gerrymandering
is. Probably thinks it's a cousin to the Salamander.

9. Look, I know she's crazy...
But I cannot think of any other reason to go after the census. Usually republicans only attack it in such a manner to scare poor people and minorities into not doing it and only then in a tricky and backhanded manner.

This is the only reason I could think of for her going after it.

10. Do you really expect rational redistricting?
Any state where the Republicans have control of the legislature, the gerrymandering will continue.

The one she has is just rushing around at ever increasing speed and ever diminishing circles and will soon disappear up it's own asshole.
