Parents like this make me sick.

http://www.towleroad.com/2010/03/gay-georgia-teens-parents-kick-him-out-after-prom-story-breaks.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+towleroad%2Ffeed+%28Towleroad+Daily++%23gay+news%29

Though Derrick has received tons of support from the internet and from gay rights groups, things are not totally rosy:

"Martin said he got 54 messages Tuesday on Facebook. 'I appreciate it,' he said. 'I was speechless that they said they would buy me dinner or buy me a tux in case someone messed mine up.' But because of the media attention, Martin’s parents have kicked him out and the teen is staying with a friend, he said."

Shame on them.

The school is holding firm on its decision to allow gay couples at the prom.

5. +1 ...to this day I'm amazed whenever I hear a parent boasting about ...
... 'kickin' that damn kid out when they're eighteen!' ...Just because.

It's almost like they had the child so they could play a waiting game on when they get to really exercise their 'authority.'

6. Actually I think most parents wanting to get rid of their kid at 18
would just like to have spontaneous sex once in 18 years

All kidding aside these parents are unbelievable. I have a son 16, I'm pretty sure he's gay, although he hasn't "come out" yet. But we make sure he knows that HOME will always be the one place he can come to be himself no matter what.

8. Although my older sister & I were moving out (and back in) by age 16 ....
... our folks fortunately weren't of that sort...but I definitely had friends/people I partied with who did.

Now, as to your joke...my wife & I get around it as best as possible - but yeah, interruptions, those unintended little things your child can say or do that tosses the cold bucket of water on our attempts at stealth-sex lol ('to the basement!')

3. They kicked him out because other people now know he's gay?
That's his great crime?

These people need a different church. They are learning very bad things.

4. Do these parents not have love for their child?
Is this the American version of "honor killing"? Just without the "killing" part because good Christians can be arrested for THAT (and it can screw up the clean carpet).

7. I Thank God Every Day
For the parents I ended up with. They have been nothing but supportive.

How a parent could do that to their own child is beyond me.

Sort of like...I love you UNLESS....

He's their SON, for crissakes. How can they be so cruel? I know this happens a lot, but dammit, I just don't get it.

12. Can't say I am all that surprised.
It should make one wonder: how many gay and lesbian teens are evicted from their homes for the "crime" of being gay/lesbian and we never hear about it?
