What are the right-wingers trying to accomplish through violence and fear? |
|
It's clear to me the right-wing demagogues (and even many of the Republican leaders) are trying to incite acts of violence against Democratic politicians and even against liberals in general who aren't politicians.
Do they think that if they incite a few Timothy McVeighs, the electorate will fall in love with the R's again and vote them back in?
Do they really think they can assassinate their way back into power?
Or do they have hopes of taking over the country the way Hitler and his thugs took over Germany in the 1930's?
I have a hard time understanding how these people think.

to say, "I will protect you from violence." It's a bit different.

are fighting against around the world.
We need the FBI to call a spade a spade and go after them. It isn't free speech is is terrorism.

It only seeks instant gratification.
What the GOP want is to destroy Obama and any chance the Democrats may have of side tracking their agenda. They just want to keep the status quo long enough to gain power again so they can keep dismantling what they loath about this country. Which is taxes and social programs. They want a strictly ownership society where the wealthy become even wealthier and the poor either eat it or lump it.
It's not about popularity or love or even governing. It's about power and wealth.

I doubt there is a massive conspiracy. It is just a bunch of folks that got stirred up by RW Radio and politicians.
I think the Republicans encouraged it to fire up their base, but now it is starting to get out of control and is going to end up damaging them politically.

23. remember during the election when Obama would seem to be really passive... |
|
and our side would get all worked up and his opponent would get all cocky and then try some stupid move and then Obama would just smile and blow them off the deck. Remember how they would get all nuts and try to bully him and it never worked and then he won.
Well, instead of one opponent he just did the same thing to all of the republicans in the House and Senate and they are pissed. Now they are up to the point where they go nuts....the rest is a given.

27. It's a strategy of promoting mass like minded isolation. |
|
A segregation based on fear and ignorance.
It's much easier to brainwash the people if you isolate them along emotional lines, "You're either with us or against us." on a domestic level.
You're unlikely to accept reason or logic from a perceived enemy or foe and thus make yourself more vulnerable to manipulation.
The hatemongers are all about manipulation because it's the only way they can truly stay in power; by keeping their followers ignorant and fearful of new, different or contrary ideas and information.
Thanks for the thread, LiberalLoner.

26. I think you're probably attributing too much thought to them. |
|
I don't think they do much of that.
I think this violence is for most the last resort of unthinking fear and hatred that has been stoked by the right for a very long time, and has found it's most perfect foil in the horror of a black president.
As to what the puppet-masters of these thought-free mobs have been thinking? I think their focus is purely on destruction. It's the kid who breaks the other kid's toy when he can't have it. It's the abusive spouse who flips when his ex carries on successfully with her life. It's every insecure, ugly, violent impulse to play with fire, and to hell with the consequences.
There's nothing in this meant to build - it's all about chaos and destruction.

30. Yes, I think this is part of it, "...have hopes of taking over the country the way Hitler |
|
and his thugs took over Germany in the 1930's?" It seems the same IMO, a dangerous RW cult is forming that loves violence. These people are the bullies of the nation united. They don't think, they just react to anyone that can instill them to greater violence.
I don't even like to think of the type of nation we would have with these people in charge. Yes, I do fear it would be Germany in the 1930's all over again and extremely dangerous.
And now it is propelled by powerful RW media and propaganda.

the tough guy with the gun. In real life people don't respond that way to threats of violence. They get mad and fight back. Even if facing overwhelming odds. Many people will fight to the death before they say uncle.
Witness the French in WWI, the American Indian or the Iraqi insurgents. None of them folded as easily as predicted. These militia types are just plain stupid.
