Right wing rhetoric and domestic violence
In both instances, the perpetrator blames the victim. The victim is portrayed as "making" the violence happen by failing to "behave."

I wouldn't have to smack her around if she didn't show me lip. We wouldn't have to threaten them democrats if they'd just do what they wuz told. It's the same damned dynamic. It's the same infantile denial of responsibility the abuser uses to rationalize away their crime.
