3. It all depends on how it is spun to them. I think most will be angry in some form or another.
Will the anger be directed at Mrbush for vetoing funding the troops or will it be at the Democrats for packing the bill with pork and demanding an artificial deadline in Iraq when everything is going so swimmingly? I think people will become more polarized.

4. They probably think he vetoed it because of the pork.
Doesn't everyone know that HOGS have been tainted by something imported from China.

Also, they will think the Dems are CHICKEN because 3.1M of them have eaten tainted something...

Connect the dots - Bush vetoed the bill in order to protect our food supply and teach the Chinese a lesson. He is strong and resolute about taking care of Americans.

5. they might not like it but..
.. most Americans have pretty much accepted Bush

dictatorship run by huge money and big business
interests.

6. It's long been my opinion that the average American
is the totally uninformed voter. The average American won't even know what the hell you are talking about.

7. They won't think, and be angry, but at the price of gas.
My expectations of the average American are pretty low. They are after all the ones most responsible for us being where we are. They are easily manipulated and generally do as they are told.

8. I believe they will not be persuaded that his reasons for rejection of the 110th
Congress' intent to withdraw our troops are superior to their gut instinct that he lied to them in the first place about Iraq and has botched the occupation ever since.

Nothing Bush's war has done so far has enhanced their citizenship or quality of life. Health care is a shambles, they sense that Social Security is volatile, there are suspicions about the phone tapping, the vice President is a malevolent lizard, and gas prices are sky high. If you live along the Gulf Coast you might have reason to wonder why the president is more concerned about Iraqi oil than your own survival in the wake of powerful storms. And if you're a veteran, you might be asking yourself why the war is so crucial if those fighting it are dumped into filthy hospitals when they return home.

It becomes acculumative, and all Bush has is the notion that terrorists will follow us home if we leave Baghdad. That just isn't enough to change the minds of the nearly two-thirds of voters who think he's full of shit.

15. Bush vetoes troop-withdrawal bill; Dems criticize move
If the "average" American thinks about the veto at all, that is how the Arizona Republic frames it. Last night 53,000 "average" Americans went to a ball game in Dodgers Stadium for a nothing baseball game. Tonight is American Idol and Dancing with Stars. Rush Hour today seemed about normal, people coming and going to work and stuff. 3 radio stations here in Phoenix are 24 hour sports talk, the number one station one is righty talk (with J.D. Hayworth in afternoon drive) and Nova-m AAR is like 2 tin cans and a string.

I don't think that the "average" American is invested at all in this war. No draft to worry about, the defense budget is less than 5% of GDP, and the cost of the war is about 1% of GDP. Gas 3 bucks a gallon? Oh well, need to have it. Not buying Ford or Chevy trucks? See all those Toyota trucks on the road? Big news here is them G-D Mexicans tying up traffic with their protest march.

16. to the extent there is such a thing as an "average American"
My guess is that this mythical person will think: he should've signed the bill and accepted a timetable for withdrawal.

He/she will then think, but if the votes aren't there to override the president's veto, then Congress should pass a funding bill without a timetable.

Why do I think this? Because its the result suggested by the most recent polls:

money for armor, training and other equipment effectively killed because Chimp Ass doesn't get his way. My God does he not realize men are dying for the stuff he now says they can't have. Why do Republicans hate our men in uniform?

19. The average American is glued to FOX "news"
So they will think think the troops are dead out of cash without bullets and food, and the Liberals refuse to send them any money. It's sad but thats what I'll hear on the radio and at work.
