The ratcheting up of threats and violence is serious. Just like the doctor killers. |
|
Why do I say this?
Because you know who else prints home addresses of people they don't like, and organize pickets and make death threats against those people, and sometimes kill them?
The anti-abortion nuts. Years ago when I was a court reporter, I took down part of a trial of Planned Parenthood vs. Operation Rescue, etal. and it was chilling to see the people on the stand that swore they were not threatening anybody. It was absolutely traumatic for me to be in the same room with Randall Terry, Flip Benham and the other leaders.
Or the woman who was so proud of her 21 year old son, who was in Federal prison for burning an abortion clinic in Houston.
Those people are dangerous. And scary. I saw the handouts for pickets at doctor's houses on Sunday, with "Bring the Kids!" printed on them, like it was a Sunday picnic. They would plant crosses on the doctor's front lawn and the doctor's wife would come out and rip them out and thrown them down.
These are the same kinds of people that killed Dr. Tiller, Dr. David Gunn and Dr. Bernard Slepian, as well as a couple of clinic escorts.

2. They aren't just the same KINDS of people. In many cases I think they are the same people. |

Christofascists all. Seeking their Dominionist utopia complete with debtor enslavement and stoning of recalcitrants. They want us all dead. Their playbook is The Handmaid's Tale.

I just heard some of the hate messages left on Stupak's voice mail (Rachel Maddow and Mike Malloy both played them on their shows) and these were seriously hate filled psychopaths leaving these threats.
And just like any other terrorist, the delusional fucks think God is on their side.

One thing gives me a little bit of hope though! I live in an area (a golf/retirement community in South Carolina) where 98% of the people are EXTREME Republicans and praciticing (at least when they go to church every week!) Christians.
Everytime I was in the club house or the restaurant, I would hear negative remarks and slender about our President and/or health care reform, and several of these people also attended at least one tea party and have signed up on De Mint, Joe Wilson, Palin, and Beck facebook page.
Yet, today. . .there was as usual a large group of male golfer talking, and socialising, and also a large group of women playing bridge (I was one of them).. . .Every one was very low key. . .not a HINT of politics was spoken by ANYONE!
Very strange. . .I think some of my neighbors may be rethinking their position. . .not about Obama or health care. . .but at least about praising the teabaggers and their darling politiciens. . .
Well, not much to be hopeful about. . .but better than nothing!
