I have been thinking about why Republicans are mad about the health care bill
They perceive it as a welfare program because 30 million people are going to be getting a subsidy to buy health insurance. Also, the expansion in Medicaid. I suppose they figure I pay for my health insurance, why are 30+ million people going to be getting it for free.

I'm glad they passed health care reform but I would have done a few things different.

1. But would your bill have passed? Cause that's the big question.

6. I would have done something with Medicaid and found a different way to fund it
I would have given certain people on Medicaid a chance to participate in the health care exchange. Also, I would have cut the home mortgage interest deduction in 1/2 to pay for it.

Therefore it wouldn't be perceived as a welfare program.

2. Trust me, they AREN'T Paying for their Health care
They are subsidized if not free recipients, or wealthy enough to endow a hospital, if they so choose.

5. I think they were going to do it differently but when they lost the 60...
they were stuck with the bill as it was.

7. I think the subsidy is only to cover PART of the premium,
..not all. And wouldn't the kids in their 20's, not covered under parents also be part of the 30 million? And really, everyone has health care except that the poor or uninsured go to the emergency room and are paid for by the rest of us anyway.

8. I heard an interesting argument
One Republican told me that she is upset because the doctors offices will be filled now. I asked why she thought that. She replied that all the illegal aliens and welfare cheats who currently get their health care at the last minute in the emergency room will now seek preventative care and keep her from seeing her doctor.

9. I think no matter what big bill the Democrats got passed that
the republicans wanted to stop and couldn't would cause the same thing. they do NOT WANT THE DEMOCRATS, AND OBAMA TO SUCCEED at anything. And as Democrats go forward it is only going to get worse. The republicans egged on by people like Rush, Palin, Bachmann and Fox News want to take the government back and enforce the corporate rule, which they had with bush and cheney and they will go anything to stop progress.

Mark my words..they are going to cause more and more trouble. These right wing nut cases THINK THEY ARE ABOUT THE LAW. And right now they are proving it.

10. Of course - everyone has their idea of a "perfect bill" but literally there is not
one person's "perfect bill" that would ever happen.

In fact, look at all the other bills out there - when has a perfect bill ever been passed?

The Repubes got some things they wanted in the bill and the Dems got some things they wanted in the bill. I'm happy that at least SOMETHING passed so that we can see what still needs to be worked on in the future and then start fixing things from there.
