My congressman got death threats last summer and canceled his town halls
and all of his public appearances. The capitol police told him they couldn't protect him so he should cancel his public appearances. He is a former prosecutor and said he always did what the cops told him to do. So he called off all of his town halls in August and September.

The local right wingers went nuts. They demanded that he show his face in public and re-schedule his town halls. It's been 8 months, he has decided not to run for office again and the wingnuts are STILL pissed they couldn't go scream at him during a town hall last summer. And of course when he announced he was retiring, the right wingers patted each other on the back, just sure they had scared him away. They apparently forgot he had said for years he was only going to serve 10 years and had ran for a 6th term in 2008.

But they won. And he will be leaving office in November. He's a blue dog but a decent man and served honorably.

Anyhow, I am wondering if the violent crazies on the right are trying to run off any more Democrats with their threats. I have to admit if I was a family member of one of the Democrats in Congress I would not object if he decided not to run for office again in November.

1. K&R Doesn't it remind you of the brooks brother style intimidation that was
used to prevent the Florida recount?

6. Yes
We still have no candidate to run for his seat. The wingnuts are jumping all over each other for the seat but no Dems so far.
