. . . not that he doesn't have the right or anything like that, but it's just gross and reeks. I wonder if the President sends him out on these, or if he does it on his own initiative. Who pays for it?

Petraeus Stops In NH, Reflects On Military Strategy
General Says He's Not Seeking Political Office

Gen. David Petraeus spoke before a packed auditorium at St. Anselm College in Manchester to discuss military strategy in Iraq and Afghanistan and his absolute lack of ambition to seek political office.

WMUR News 9's Josh McElveen moderated the event, where the general said he had no idea that the stage he had be speaking from is frequently used for presidential primary debates.

1. The rumors have him running for public office...
I have no idea who's financing him.

4. Somewhere I've been given
the impression that he might run for President in 2012, as a Republican. Now unless he is retired, like Wes Clark was when he ran in 2004, that seems kind of iffy. Seems he shouldn't be all that political if he is still in the military and Obama is still his CIC. I'm not sure of the protocol for this kind of thing but shouldn't an acting General be non-partisan?

Be that as it may, Petreaus doesn't strike me as being reactionary enough to get much support from the base of the GOP. The current GOP seems to like its politians shrill, ignorant and arrogant. Nasty combination that seems to play well with their base.

5. He has to be apolitical. If not, it's a violation of military regs...
From what I read in the article he wasn't doing that, but I honestly wouldn't be surprised if he's getting some encouragement behind the scenes. I do agree that he doesn't seem the reactionary type.

& downright suspicious.
MY bs detector's been going off..
He is either campaigning for another new war,
or for HIS future political aspirations.
ESPECIALLY in his position, he needs to avoid
POLITICS..he's breaking code & FAITH with those
he 'leads'& the PEOPLE he Serves..supposedly, US.

I sure wish Pres. Obama would clean house,
& get rid of all..ALL..of the
bush-cheney-rummy-left-behinders.
Yeah, I said it!
